New Tunes at 9 Roundup with Burlap to Cashmere

RADIO FRIEND PHIL – Burlap to Cashmere, best-known for their 1998 masterpiece, “Anybody Out There,” is back in town this Saturday. The legendary band create an invigorating sound, infused with elements of flamenco guitar, tango rhythms, Latin folk-rock, Tex-Mex and Gospel. The band just completed a pledge music campaign, and will be playing songs off their new project, “Freedom Songs,” in addition to older, vintage material, including “Basic Instructions” and “Treasures in Heaven.” Steven Delopoulos was my guest this week on New Tunes at 9 http://wjtl.com/listen/wjtl-casts/. The acclaimed singer/songwriter (and former female vocalist of the year) is working on her next project, “The Unmaking.” (The title-track to the new project will be available at iTunes on May 4.) “The Unmaking” includes the lyrics: “This is where the walls gave way/this is demolition day/all the debris and all the dust/love will not stay locked inside.”
