Big – Little Encouragements

Today our office received a note from a contest winner who said “This came at the right time.  You can’t imagine how this has helped me know He is real.  You can’t imagine all I go through.  Thank you so much for this encouragement”.

Sometimes what to us may seem like the littlest thing can make a huge impact.   A smile,  including someone on your lunch plans after church, a phone call out of the blue, or in this case placing a prize envelope on a car window … what if one small gesture may actually be the way God wants to instill some extra joy or hope into someone’s life?  What if today someone needs to see Jesus and you are the one who He is choosing to be seen through?

Introducing Julie and Sandra – the WJTL Summer Interns

STACEY GAGNE – Did you know that WJTL has an internship program?  We really enjoy having high school and college students join us each semester as they pursue their interests in Radio, Communications and Music Business among other related majors.

This year we are excited to have two fabulous young women with us!  Introducing Interns Julie and Sandra:


Julie Urbanik has been listening to WJTL since she was 7 or 8, so we as a staff have known her for years.  Now she’s a student at Millersville University studying Music Business and Technologies.  You’ll be able to hear her on the air on Thursday mornings during the Get Up and Go Show with Fred and Lisa and will see her out at some of our summer live remotes.   She’s only been with us for one week so far and has already put together our parade playlist, mailed some letters and prizes, updated our events calendar, recorded an on air promo and helped at Walk for Life in Columbia!  She’s off to a great start!

Sandra Robinson studies at Grove City College.  She’s a Music Education major with interest in Communications.  Sandra hosts and co-hosts 2 radio shows at at her school.  She also grew up listening to WJTL and loves a variety of different music styles.   Sandra will be with us on Tuesdays and will also joining the Get Up and Go Show team this summer.  She has a busy schedule with her summer job, but we plan to have her come out to many events too.  Tuesday was her first day and she had a great time with Fred and Lisa and our guests!

STACEY GAGNE-   Facebook has proven to be a great tool for us at WJTL to interact with you!  Since we’ve been on Facebook we’ve been able to update you more quickly as we post items to the website, weather related news, local events,  linking up with other ministries, posting pictures, contests, connecting listeners with each other and so much more!

Since we originally joined Facebook, we have created a fan page that serves us and the listener much better with the biggest plus being no limit on friends… our original page has a huge list of people waiting to be friends.

If you have not liked us at the wjtlradio page, please do so.  We will be deactivating the original page very soon so that we send everyone to the same place.    We are also active on Flickr Twitter and Youtube.

There are many ways to stay plugged in to the WJTL Community!

Possible

STACEY GAGNE –  I am learning as I get older that there are so many things that I think I can’t do that I have never tried out of fear or didn’t have faith for.  I blogged a bit last year about running and that was definitely one of those things.   I think many of us struggle with having a limited vision.  Even a limited understanding of what God has made us capable of.   I was just thinking about this and was looking at some scripture when I saw these familiar verses in Ephesians 3:

“20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

God,  give us revelation of how powerful you are in our lives.  Remind us that your power is at work within us.  Help us to see how you equip us beyond our imaginations.   Show us how you make the impossible possible in our lives for your glory and allow us to be a part of that.  Amen.

The Stuff

STACEY GAGNE – Ok, who doesn’t get that song by Francesca Batistelli stuck in their head?  I may or may not have been belting it out jokingly through the office this afternoon while adding my own silly lyrics about the frustrations of my day.  :).   It sure has a hook… and is encouraging listeners, too.

The other day we had a listener call in and say thanks so much for playing that song.   She had been driving back and forth across the county all day running errands.    She found it was fun and uplifting musically and encouraging.  The lyrics remind us that the stuff that “drives us crazy” are the very things that God uses in our lives… from little to big.

James 1: 2-4  reminds us to “Consider it pure joy …  whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”  So, maybe… just maybe… the next time we get cut off in traffic, receive a frustrating phone call or unexpected bill, or can’t find our sunglasses (most of the time mine are sitting on top of my head when I can’t find them) we will think of this song and smile???

STACEY GAGNE – Are you creative?  Are you looking for inspiration?  Try going to scripture.  I was looking through my journal the other night and noticed that my best and most creative writing comes out during times that I was more focused on reading The Word or spending more focused time with God in prayer and worship.   This shouldn’t come as a surprise … inspiration from the Creator.  🙂   But a good reminder, nonetheless.

Ok, those lyrics from the song in the movie White Christmas might be a bit of an exaggeration for me … I don’t LONG to shovel, necessarily, but I do love snow.  (The way I fell in it when I was shoveling last night… you’d think I “longed to wash my hands, my face and hair” with it, though).

I have so much fun this time of year helping with Operation Snow Crew, especially during the Get Up and Go Show.   I love snow, so that is a big part of the excitement for me.  I’ve been known to run outside when  we get the first flakes of the winter.     I also enjoy the change in schedule,  getting up “dark and early” and heading home early, too.  It’s fun  spending time with Fred and Lisa and the other staff in our early morning silliness,   going on the air with the DJ’s once in a while, talking with the leadership from local schools,  churches and businesses, and getting the word out for families and individuals in the listening area.    It’s a challenge to see how quickly we can get the announcements out on the air and on the web.  Often times we are updating while Fred and Lisa are mid-way through the list with chats from the office to the studio.  🙂  It definitely can get interesting.

We post the cancellations on the web and read them on the air.   Remember you can see the Operation Snow Crew list anytime it’s active.  If you’ve noticed that your school, church or local business or organization is not reporting to WJTL, please let them know that we’d love to include them in our listings, too.

Heavenly Father, You always amaze me!!!

STACEY GAGNE – I haven’t blogged as much as usual this month… because my fingers have been furiously keeping up with the donations that have poured in!  WJTL had a need.  Listeners responded.  God provided.

I was unsure how things would look as we ended 2010.  I trusted that God would take care of us somehow, but wasn’t sure how that would look considering the economy, considering how everyone has responded to the need for so many other organizations in need this year, etc.   But here we are having met budget before the end of the day with donations still coming in.  What a treat to get to open the envelopes, read the notes, share them with the staff and see our needs being met once again.  I have been amazed.

The Jon Foreman Song “Your Love is Strong” is one I’ve really appreciated this year … and these lyrics from scripture seem especially appropriate for today.  I’ll post them below.

Christmas Joy

STACEY GAGNE – Ask anyone from the office and I think they’ll agree: I get giddy like a little girl at Christmastime.  Oh o.k., I can be giddy fairly often.   But especially now.   I’m excited to see my family,  anxious to give the gifts I’ve chosen, and excited to see SNOW in Vermont.  But there’s more…

I know that the joy and excitement I have has a deeper root.   As I hear and sing songs about Jesus being born, and our church services focus on the reason for the season…  we remember the many miracles.   I get full of wonder and my heart is full of joy.  We are celebrating a day that marks the birth of our Savior!!  I seek to celebrate that in my heart throughout the year!

May your heart be filled with joy that goes far beyond the season!!!
