June 27 @ 12:00 pm - June 28 @ 4:00 pm| Free
The grounds of the 1719 Hans Herr House will be ringing with the sounds of hammer on anvil this summer. A bevy of blacksmiths will set up portable forges and use the Herr House’s smithy. They engage in this ancient practical art on Friday, June 27, from noon until 4 p.m. and on Saturday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Community members are welcome to attend this free event, to watch and learn. There will also be the opportunity to try ones own hand at it, under supervision. Over the course of two days, the assembled blacksmiths will work on a group project—this year the plan is to create and assemble a table. The finished project will be raffled off to help support the cost of the event.
