RADIO FRIEND PHIL – Greetings! It’s time for this week’s New Tunes at 9 Roundup. (New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL.) All Things New was one of 3 bands that stopped by the Junction Center for a live performance last weekend. (All Things New just released their debut, self-titled project, on BEC Recordings.) It’s always exciting when a young band stops by the Junction Center, eager to share their faith, their stories, and their music. The band’s first single, “New Man,” is already making an impression with listeners. (The song chronicles the fractured home life of lead singer Garrett Hornbuckle, and it’s currently charting on WJTL’s Top 25 Countdown.)

RADIO FRIEND PHIL – Greetings! It’s time for this week’s New Tunes at 9 Roundup. (New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL.) For seventeen years, the band Delirious was a major force in the world of worship music. Led by singer/songwriter/guitarist Martin Smith, Delirious recorded anthems like “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever,” “Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble,” and “Majesty (Here I Am).” In 2009, Delirious disbanded with Martin Smith explaining that he wanted to devote more time to his wife, family, children and the CompassionArt Project. (CommpassionArt is an international development charity, founded by Smith and his wife, Anna.) Since the breakup of Delirious, Martin Smith has been quietly releasing several EP’s, under the series name, “God’s Great Dance Floor.” On April 23^rd, he’ll he releasing the full-length project, “God’s Great Dance Floor Step 1.” You can order the new project, and his book “Delirious. (New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL.) What more can you say that hasn’t already been said about iconic singer/songwriter Steven Curtis Chapman? His numerous titles include, among others, musician, producer, actor, and adoption advocate. (To date, Chapman was won 56 GMA Dove Awards, more than any other artist in history, and he’s been actively releasing music since the 1980’s.) Outside of music, Steven and Mary Beth Chapman started a charity organization called ‘Show Hope,’ designed to mobilize individuals and communities to care for orphans. Now, in 2013, Chapman has released a stellar new project called, “Deep Roots.” “Deep Roots,” an Appalachian-music project, debuted at No. 2 on the Christian albums chart, and No. 68 on the Billboard 200. RADIO FRIEND PHIL – Greetings! It’s time for this week’s New Tunes at 9 Roundup. (New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL.) On this Holy Week, I wanted to spotlight a song that talks about God’s grace at the cross. I’ve chosen a new band that we featured recently on New Tunes at 9: Citizens. Citizens is led by singer Zach Bolen; the Seattle-based, alternative-worship band is connected to the music ministry of Mars Hill Church. The first single by Citizens is “Made Alive,” a song propelled by a funky bass line, and a big chorus with multi-layered voices. RADIO FRIEND PHIL – Greetings! It’s time for this week’s New Tunes at 9 Roundup. (New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL.) Question: Do you like festive Latin rhythms and percussion in your music? How about a triumphant, jubilant horn section? If this sounds like the kind of music you enjoy, then look no further than “Make Some Noise,” the new project from Salvador. Salvador is a Latin-rock band from Texas, led by singer/guitarist Nic Gonzales. The band draws heavy influence from the Tex-Mex sound of their home state, and they also cite the Los Angeles band Los Lobos as a primary source of inspiration. Salvador seemingly burst upon the scene in 2000 with their breakthrough single “Lord, I Come Before You,” and they continue to make music for a strong fan base.Recently, on New Tunes at 9, I spoke to Nic Gonzales about the band’s longevity, strong musicianship, and their cover version of the song, “Higher Love,” (which was brought to his attention by his wife, singer/songwriter Jaci Velasquez). http://wjtl.com/listen/wjtl-casts/ For more on Salvador, go to http://salvadorlive.com/; you’ll find a link to buy “Make Some Noise” on iTunes and Amazon, plus the band’s facebook page which is currently running a contest called, “We come and perform for you.”
