Veggie Volunteers Needed!!

October 12th, 2010 No comments

Ann D’Alessandro –

Veggie Tales is this Thursday!!! We are still looking for people who can help out all day with Load In and Load Out! If you are not sure what that means, it’s basically unloading the truck and setting everything up on the stage – there are crew guys from the tour that let you know what to do, then when the show is over, we tear it all down and put it back in the truck!!! It is a lot of fun and a great way to find out more about what goes on behind the scenes at concerts. VeggieTales is at Manheim BIC in Manheim this Thursday!!! Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in helping with. (Must be 15 or older)
You can email me or call 717-392-3206.
You can also fill out the volunteer form at http://cmilive.com/volunteer.html
(Also, we need help with Load In and Load Out for Hawk Nelson onThursday, Oct. 28th)
Hope to see you at one of the upcoming concerts! For the complete list, go to – http://cmilive.com/

It also features his beautiful wife Sarah (who is an amazing musician and songwriter too) plus their adorable son, Judah.

Great New Music!

ANN D’ALESSANDRO -

Two of my favorite bands are releasing new CDs!!!
If you like artists who are talented, creative and pretty much overall amazing, then check out the new CDs coming out from The Lost Dogs and The Choir! (Derri Daugherty & Steve Hindalong are in both bands.) The Lost Dogs have their new CD, “Old Angel” coming out May 11th – TOMORROW!!! “This is a one of a kind recording, a story told in each song. Your listening experience will feel like you were along for the ride. It’s the next best thing!” They will be in Camp Hill on May 18th – so you can catch a show and grab yourself a CD at the same time! We already have our tickets, so hope to see you there!!!
http://www.thelostdogs.com
You have to wait a little longer for The Choir, whose CD is coming out June 29th!!! The Choir is an amazingly talented group who has been around since 1980. “The various distinct elements; Hindalong’s unique drum perspectives and immediately evocative lyrics, Daugherty’s crystalline voice (LOVE his voice!) and echoing guitar, Chandler’s muscular, yet persistently melodic bass, Michaels’ tasteful use of sax and synth and Byrd’s excellent backing vocals, tight guitar skills and increasingly powerful songwriting talents, combine as a seamless garment of musical grace. Twenty-five years into their journey, The Choir is as amazing as ever.”
“The Choir may be one of the best, and most influential bands, you’ve never heard of.”

Singing “Taste & See” while fasting…

April 19th, 2010 No comments

Tonight I’m leading worship (along with my wonderfully musical husband Sam!)  We’ll be at the Hershey Aglow monthly meeting.  http://hersheyaglow.com/index.html Whenever I lead worship, I like to find out a little about the speaker then plan a set list that compliments what is on their heart or in their message.  In my mind, this is like setting up a spike in volleyball.  The worship opens and stirs hearts and helps to prepare everybody to receive the message.

Tonight’s speaker is Traci Alexander from Trumpet & Torch Ministries, who is speaking on prayer and fasting.  My mother is part of the Hershey Aglow leadership and asked me to do the song “Taste And See.”  I immediately commented on the irony in singing “taste and see” when the focus of the message is on fasting!  (I originally was thinking of more of a sacrifice and desperation theme.)  But after some consideration and research, I’ve realized that you can, in fact, sing “we are hungry” repeatedly and be satisfied in worship–even if you’re fasting!  (Instead of just intensifying your physical hunger pangs.)

So, tonight we’ll revisit some of the songs from my earlier days of worship leading: “Hungry (On My Knees)”, “We Are Hungry”, “All Who Are Thirsty” and “Breathe.”  And of course, I’ll sing “Taste & See”–at mom’s request.

Radio Network in Chile Updates Listeners After Quake

March 8th, 2010 No comments

Source: HCJB Global (written by Ralph Kurtenbach)

The people of Chile are putting their lives back together after an 8.8-strength earthquake struck near Concepción early Saturday, Feb. 27.

From the capital city of Santiago, Radio Armonía program host María Soledad is helping many Chileans to do so as the HCJB Global radio partner broadcasts via 35 affiliates across Chile.

Throughout the week María Soledad kept listeners up-to-date, encouraging them from the Scriptures. “In some sectors electricity is being restored—in cities like Concepción, Talcahuano, San Pedro de la Paz. Today I was asked about [the sector of] Michaigue,” she said on a program monitored in Ecuador.

A caller named Marina, her faith intact but emotions edgy, was overcome with emotion upon reaching Soledad. “How long have you been listening?” the program host asked as the two friends chatted on-air. “Just since this morning, we’ve been here without electricity, listening to the radio.”

Another caller, Pastor Alejandro Cabezas, experienced a few difficulties with highway travel to Concepción, but said the highway is generally clear and the weather is good. Moved by the enormity of the situation, his voice broke as he described the difficulties of people. “Some people are quite desperate,” he said.

Chileans continue experiencing dozens of aftershocks each day, keeping many in a state of uncertainty. Even as the tremors continue rattling people’s emotions, Radio Armonía is promoting an aid campaign launched by the Salvation Army. The “Embracing Chile” campaign solicits cash, nonperishable foods, milk and disposable diapers from the radio network’s listeners.

Since 1931, HCJB Global’s passion has been to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Using mass media, healthcare and education, and working with partners around the world, HCJB Global has ministries in more than 100 countries. Together with local partners, the ministry airs the gospel in more than 120 languages and dialects. Thousands of listeners and healthcare patients are meeting Jesus. Local believers are being trained as missionaries, pastors, broadcasters and healthcare providers.
