Ways to Reach Out to Lisa During Her Illness

August 20th, 2013

As many of you know, Lisa Landis was hospitalized on June 26th with a serious bacterial infection.  Many of you have expressed interest in leaving a message for Lisa. This page would be a great way to do that. Simply leave your reply to this message and we will pass your well-wishes along to Lisa and her family.

Some listeners and organizations have also asked about organizing a Get Well card shower for Lisa.  If your church or organization or family is interested in doing that you can send your cards to WJTL, 1875 Junction Road, Manheim, PA 17545 Attn: Lisa Landis, and we will pass them along to Lisa and her family as well.

Additionally, many have been asking about ways to help Lisa during her lengthy illness and Hospital Stay. If you would like to help with Lisa’s Medical & Rehabilitation Expenses, a special fund has been set up.  Please send your gift to…

FULTON BANK: MCGOVERN AVENUE
20 MCGOVERN AVE.
LANCASTER, PA 17602

Please Indicate on your check that this is for the
LISA LANDIS BLOWERS FUND

or call or visit the FULTON BANK branch nearest you.

Thank You!

When I started taking care of elderly people, I was really struggling with why I was there. I met a woman who told me her life story. When her mother found out she was pregnant, she gave herself an abortion and aborted the baby. She was bleeding badly and went to the hospital. In the hospital, she gave birth to a baby girl in a bedpan, only realizing then that she was pregnant with twins and only aborted one of the babies. The mother didn’t want the baby so the baby was passed around from relative to relative. Abused and neglected all her life. She then married a man who abused her. He passed away and she married another man who abused her. He passed away. During this time, she met God. She told me all this and then said to me, if God brought me through all of that to be able to bring me to this one place at this one time to tell you how much He loves you, then my life is more than worth it.
I share that story to tell you that it is all worth it for HIS glory. You are in our prayers but more importantly you are in HIS hands. Continue to be HIS hands and feet. The fields are white, unto harvest…

In all that has happened with Lisa over these last few weeks, I have had one constant thing come across my prayer thoughts…….anxiety. I know that God tells to NOT be anxious about anything, but its difficult and almost feels downright impossible. How can I not feel anxious? Doctors and nurses can tell you all that they think they know about conditions like Lisa is going through. And yet, I imagine that there were times she was in the quietness of her room by herself….and doubt or whatever crept in. The same could be true for her family. Every time you get an answer, another question seems to come. It could feel relentless.

I am reminded of standing in the ocean. When you venture in past just getting your feet wet, there is that “drilling effect”. Water rushing in and out and slowly burying your feet. If you walk out a little further, that feeling diminishes, but now you are in the middle of that undertow. Still further, and you risk feeling the brunt of the waves crashing upon you and knocking you over. Trying to find that safe zone is ever changing. It depends on so many things. The tide, the size of the swells, time of day…water temperature….you could add more I’m sure.

Still, God is in the midst of all of that. In each salt-laden sprayed drop, in every crash of water, in every tug that threatens to pull your feet out from under you. In all of those moments when it seems unending.

But if we only stay where it’s high and dry, we never get washed. Water surrounds us with a feeling like nothing else. We know exactly when it lands on us. We feel immediately when our feet are wet.

You have probably already discovered the incredible amount of patience, strength and faith you need to be in the middle of all of this. But you don’t have to carry that reservoir around with you at all times. Nor are you responsible for keeping it full. Sometimes all you need is one drop. God has supplied the ocean and will take care of filling and replenishing.

So a reminder that stepping into the water, is not always stepping into the storm of anxiety. God could be inviting you to just be in the water. To be washed, rinsed…….restored.

Much love, prayers and thoughts to Lisa and her family. And to you her friends, who are walking alongside.

    Lisa,

I’m at a loss for words (a rare occasion). I am not a reader of the daily paper and heard the news from Suzanne Stallings. Rich and I send you, John and Alex positive thoughts along with prayers for your medical team. I’m sure the rest of the (now defunct) events committee is better informed than me but will be sure to share your news with them. Your positive attitude, sense of humor and good karma will serve you well. I look forward to seeing you again at Central Market.

    Deaest Lisa,

Our family has been praying for you, daily. My girls who are 17 and 26 were raised listening to the oring show and Kids coofie break. You have an amazing voice and gift to the air ways with Frd daily. Keep strong, keep your eys and head like flint look towards the heavens and King Jesus. This is NOT a sickness unto death. God is restoring you daily. You have touched lives and now we send prayers to heaven to touch your body and restore. Also praying for your family during this time.

Lisa, I just wanted you to know the many, many times that your voice cheered me, that your message gave me hope, that the Kids Cookie Break made me smile. You have brought such joy to my life, and for a lot of years, there was little joy in my life. So……I want you to know that I am sending you some hope, some smiles, and hopefully some cheer. My prayers are with you, that your spirit will stay positive throughout the hospital stay, the boredom, the fatigue, the frustration that goes with being in the hospital. I pray for your family, that they can trust in the one who holds the plan, and that they continue to support you as you go through this journey. You mean so much to so many – even though there are not faces to go with the prayers, please know that you are loved and missed. We can’t wait until you are up and running. Stay strong in His strength. Thank you!

    Lisa,

I seen your post and I am encouraged that progress has been made in your battle against the infection. The reason for my encouragement is that I see God’s working in this battle as well. I see Him working in the body Christ by all of the comments, prayers, and well wishes.

I am still praying (as I know many others are too) and God is still working and it is a blessing to see Him at work. May God speed your healing and recovery.

Can’t wait to hear your voice on the radio again.

    May God Bless you,

I have been praying for you since my husband called to tell me that you were hospitalized. I pray for fully restored health with no further infections or setbacks. I pray for wisdom for the doctors. I pray for God to be glorified in this very difficult situation. May you come back stronger than ever ready to praise and serve our living God. It’s so encouraging to see all these positive comments left for you.

Even if I am 70 miles away it seems that you are right there with me. Please get well soon. We all miss that amazing voice/talent that God has given you.!

    Lisa,

I haven’t stopped praying for you since I learned of your sudden change in health (you met the girls and myself when we joined you and Fred with our puppet friends from “Shelter from the Storm). Your strength to battle this has been such an inspiration, hope and faith in an all all-powerful, all-mighty, all-healing Heavenly Father. We were in Tallahassee (where we are moving) when we heard the news … praying as a family as we’ve continued to follow the updates. Your strength to keep fighting has been nothing less than amazing. You are truly an inspiration to us all 🙂

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you …

Lisa! I just heard about this yesterday. I am so sorry you are going through this, friend. I know I don’t have to tell you that God’s got it all worked out, so I won’t. But I want you to know that the Bigley family will be praying every day for your recovery and that God’s goodness will be obvious to you, your family, and the hospital staff. I’m sure you’ve already brightened a few lives there!

    Under His mercy,

When I first started listening to WJTL 20 years ago, Lisa, you were on the early morning show. I listened to you every morning. To me you were WJTL and I was so disappointed when you were no longer there to start my mornings. But I survived and hey, you came back. Now the Lord has a new mission for you and we will stand beside you every step of the way lifting you up daily in prayer, asking the Lord for healing, wisdom and guidance. Thank you so much for your love and service. God will bless!!

    Dear Lisa,

We have listened to you for years and I have made The Kids Cookie Break a routine on Saturday mornings. We miss hearing your voice. During the winter, you will hear my son (6) say “Lisa said (the weather was going to be like) this…”
Praise the Lord you are under the good care of nurses and doctors at HUP and of course the Master Physician is working on you the most. We are continuing to keep you in our prayers for healing and a quick recovery! Blessings to you:)

    Hi Lisa,
A small Bible study and prayer group of 16 or so at my husband’s workplace in Harrisburg have been praying for you. Some live outside of the WJTL listening area, but have been praying for you nonetheless. All of them are so encouraged at your progress and faith through it all. Here are three recent comments from some of the members:

“Please let Lisa know that prayers are on the way. May her faith make her whole; and may the blessings of the Almighty fall upon her and her family!”

“Wow!! What a scary time. Their faith is very inspiring!”

“Just reading this (the latest update) sent chills through my body! The prayers of the righteous avail!! I am so grateful for God’s healing hand on her life!!! What an awesome GOD we serve!!!!!”

May God continue to strengthen and heal you!

Lisa, for over ten years I have heard your joy-filled voice coming through my speakers on my way to work each morning, and I have appreciated your humor, kindness, faithfulness, and encouragement to the listening audience so much. I know that our Jesus will bring you through this trial and give you a new testimony of his faithfulness to you even though you have suffered so much.
