New Tunes at 9 Roundup
Radio Friend Phil – New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL. Some of the new and recent projects we featured this week on New Tunes at 9: “It’s A Shamrock Christmas Vol. 2,” the “WOW Christmas” compilation, and “The Mission Field,” from Blessid Union of Souls. Blessid Union of Souls is led by singer/songwriter/vocalist Eliot Sloan. Eliot grew up in suburban Cincinnati, Ohio, where his parents exposed him to a wide range of music–especially rock, pop and soul. Eliot says, “You can never get too close to God, and throughout all of these songs (on “The Mission Field”), I’m always going in that direction.” Eliot was my guest on New Tunes at 9 and spoke with great affection about his mother, going to church as a young boy and absorbing all of his musical influences. For more on Blessid Union of Souls, and to sample tracks off the project “The Mission Field,” go to blessidunionofsouls.net.
