New Tunes at 9 Roundup: Casting Crowns
RADIO FRIEND PHIL – Greetings! It’s time for this week’s New Tunes at 9 Roundup. (New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL.) Casting Crowns released “Thrive,” their seventh project this week. “Thrive” is the follow-up to “Come to the Well” a record that debuted in 2011, at No. 2, behind Adele’s project, 21. (Coincidentally, “Come to the Well” included “Courageous,” a song whose music video promoted the film of the same name.) Fronted by singer Mark Hall, Casting Crowns began as a student worship band; they released their self-titled, 2003 debut, a disc that included their first radio hit, “Voice of Truth.” In spite of the group’s enormous success, Mark Hall remains focused on their mission, while remaining true to their roots in youth ministry. And don’t forget about the Thrive Tour: Thursday, March 20 (the first day of Spring), featuring Casting Crowns, Laura Story, and For King and Country, at the Giant Center, Hershey.
