New Tunes at 9 Roundup: Citizens

March 28th, 2013

RADIO FRIEND PHIL – Greetings! It’s time for this week’s New Tunes at 9 Roundup. (New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL.) On this Holy Week, I wanted to spotlight a song that talks about God’s grace at the cross. I’ve chosen a new band that we featured recently on New Tunes at 9: Citizens. Citizens is led by singer Zach Bolen; the Seattle-based, alternative-worship band is connected to the music ministry of Mars Hill Church. The first single by Citizens is “Made Alive,” a song propelled by a funky bass line, and a big chorus with multi-layered voices. The lyrics include, “you have bought me back with the riches of your amazing grace and relentless love.” Zach Bolen talked about the song on New Tunes at 9. For more on Citizens, go to the band’s facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/MUSIC.CITIZENS?fref=ts; the new project is available online at Amazon.
