New Tunes at 9 Roundup: Dustin Kensrue

October 3rd, 2013

RADIO FRIEND PHIL – Greetings! It’s time for this week’s New Tunes at 9 Roundup. (New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL.) Mars Hill Worship recording artist Dustin Kensrue is releasing his debut solo project this week. Entitled “The Water & The Blood,” this disc opens up a new chapter in Dustin Kensrue’s recording career.  Up to this point, Kensrue has been the driving force as vocalist and guitarist for Thrice, the post-hardcore band from Southern California. (Thrice amassed a fiercely loyal following in America and Europe, releasing standout projects like “The Illusion of Safety” and “Major/Minor.”) Dustin Kensrue’s first single is “Rejoice”; it contains the verse: “Turning tragedy to triumph. Turning agony to praise. There is blessing in the battle. So take heart and stand amazed.” Dustin was my guest on New Tunes at 9, and I asked him to share his personal story of redemption and the song, “Rejoice.” http://wjtl.com/listen/wjtl-casts/ For more on Dustin Kensrue, go to http://www.dustinkensrue.com/. You’ll find facebook, you-tube, and a link to buy the new project.
