New Tunes at 9 Roundup: OBB

September 12th, 2013

RADIO FRIEND PHIL – Greetings! It’s time for this week’s New Tunes at 9 Roundup. (New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL.) The Oswald Brothers Band, also known as OBB, is a new band signed to Curb Records. OBB is a 3-piece worship-pop band, comprised of three brothers: Zach, Jacob and Nick Oswald. OBB first came to national attention when they were encouraged by their grandfather to enter the CBS Early Show’s “Singing Family Face-Off.” (They placed third in the competition.) OBB serves on the worship team at Atlanta’s Passion City Church, the congregation founded by Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio. OBB lead singer Zach Oswald was my guest last week on New Tunes at 9. Zach shared the story surrounding the group’s new song, “Come on Home,” part of which was inspired by the reaction he was receiving to his mohawk haircut. For more on OBB, go to http://www.obbmusic.com/; you’ll find an acoustic performance of “Come on Home,” facebook, twitter and a link to buy the new EP on iTunes.
