New Tunes at 9 Roundup: Rush of Fools

October 27th, 2011

Radio Friend Phil – New Tunes at 9: one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights, 9-10 pm on WJTL. Some of the biggest releases featured this week on New Tunes at 9 were “Come To The Well,” by Casting Crowns (which debuted this week at No. 2 on the Billboard 200), and “We Once Were,” by Rush of Fools.

“We Once Were” is Rush of Fools’ much-delayed third project, finally being released September 27 on eOne. Guitarist /songwriter Kevin Huguley says the new project was delayed for several reasons: “Our label, Midas Records, shut down and we lost a band member who felt the calling to leave. At the same time, our drummer’s mom was going through cancer, and we dealt with that together. Then we had our trailer stolen with all of our equipment.”

“We Once Were” is co-produced by Dennis Herring (who’s worked with Elvis Costello and Counting Crows, among others) and the Alabama-based band has never sounded stronger. Singer Wes Willis says, “It’s definitely a fresh sound for us.” For more on Rush of Fools, click http://www.rushoffools.com/
