New Tunes at 9 Roundup: Tenth Avenue North

August 15th, 2013

RADIO FRIEND PHIL – Greetings! It’s time for this week’s New Tunes at 9 Roundup. (New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL.) Tenth Avenue North released their latest project, “The Struggle,” in August of 2012. The record quickly debuted at number 9 on the Billboard chart, and the band embarked on the ‘Struggle Spring Tour’ to support the project. (You can watch videos from their appearance at the Junction Center, on the videos page at WJTL.com http://wjtl.com/videos/) Since releasing their debut project, “Over and Underneath,” in 2008, Tenth Avenue North have built a strong fan-base of support. They were named the 2009 New Artist of the Year, and released a follow-up, “The Light Meets the Dark,” in 2010. Tenth Avenue North singer/guitarist Mike Donehey assembled the band at Palm Beach Atlantic University, in Florida. (Some of the central themes explored on “The Struggle” are grace and forgiveness.) For more on Tenth Avenue North, go to http://tenthavenuenorth.com/. Hi friend Phil. I saw 10th Avenue North in Lancaster 4/14/13. They were awesome of course. My 19 year old daughter came with me. it was her 1st concert! She wants to see them again. I am so glad to share God’s grace with her. She asked me why so many of 10th avenue’s songs are sad. I said because people relate to them. And its The Struggle CD. When I heard Worn the 1st time, I felt it was my life it fit so well. At the concert, guess which song the entire crowd sang together and louder than any other, yep, Worn. Her favorite is You Are More. She learned many songs from hearing my radio, or riding in my car. Now she listens too! Thank you for spreading the good news. Love is Here
