Promise Players Dinner Theater Fundraiser

March 4th, 2024 No comments

Join us for a dinner theater fundraiser for The Promise Players’ tech fund!

Inspector Casey Solved is called to a local church’s bake sale and bazaar. As usual, Lillian “Lil” O’Laydee has baked her famous date nut loaf using her family’s secret recipe. But wait! Someone else has dared to bake a date nut loaf and put it on the bake sale table beside Lil’s! Could it be as good as Lil’s . . . or was her recipe stolen and it truly is a duplicate date nut loaf?! The audience gets to vote on who they think the culprit is!

Seating is by reservation only. Prime seating can be reserved in advance by sponsoring a table of eight for a minimum donation of $300. General admission seating must also be reserved in advance and can be paid for by donation at the door. These seats will be first come, first served. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to showtime.

Thanks to your generosity, The Promise Players has raised over $265,000 for local charities over the past 28 years! Now, some of our sound and tech equipment is in dire need of replacement. We prefer to send all money raised from our shows to the named beneficiary, so we ask you to prayerfully consider supporting our ministry so that we can further our mission of providing Christ-centered entertainment for you and financial gifts to nonprofit organizations in the community.

Encore! Home School Productions presents The Wizard of Oz, March 14-17 at The Junction Center! Thursday, March 14th is PAY-WHAT-YOU-WILL NIGHT! Encore! is an award-winning theatrical organization that has staged fun, affordable, family-friendly shows for over 20 years.
L. Frank Baum’s classic novel comes to life in The Wizard of Oz. This faithful adaptation by the Royal Shakespeare Company features all the most beloved songs and moments from the 1939 classic film, brought to life onstage. Young Dorothy Gale is swept away by a tornado from her Kansas farm to the magical land of Oz. There, she encounters a host of whimsical characters: good witches, bad witches, animals that talk, scarecrows that walk, and things magical to behold. To find her way home, she must journey along the Yellow Brick Road to see the mysterious and all-powerful Wizard in Emerald City. Along the way, she makes new friends, but must also brave many dangers, including the Wicked Witch of the West, who will stop at nothing to get her hands on Dorothy’s magical ruby slippers. To make it home safely, Dorothy must learn an important lesson: there’s no place like home.

The Promise Players present: Sarah Mae

January 29th, 2024 No comments

Please join us as The Promise Players present an encore performance of Sarah Mae and Her Kinfolk, a family musical with well-known gospel favorites, from “I’ll Fly Away” to “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”

The setting is a family reunion in the 1930s that has its joys and challenges, like any family would! Bein’s mountain folk, they deal with a passel of characters that bury moonshine in Mason jars in the flowerbeds, marry young, and build their own stills. Balance that against strong mountain faith and a relative that was raised from the dead, and you have the makin’s of one intrestin’ reunion!

Reservations are strongly encouraged, though seating is general admission on a first-come, first-served basis. Patrons without reservations will be seated 20 minutes prior to show time on a first-come, first-served basis as seats are available.

Reserve your seat(s) today, as Promise Players shows are often sold out! If needed, call the church office Monday to Friday from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm at 717-464-2050.

A suggested minimum donation of $9 for adults is payable at the door. Children 12 years old and under may bring the donation of a canned good or $2 for local food banks.

Christmas Wonderland

October 26th, 2023 No comments

It’s Christmas at the Mistletoe Lodge! What could be more perfect than a Hollywood film production company coming to shoot a Christmas Special right there in the little town of Mistletoe?! Well, let’s just say, things don’t go quite as planned. With the help of the staff and local friends of the Lodge, you will learn that things don’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.

In The Not So Perfect Christmas, you will enjoy beautiful music and dance, lots and lots of laughter, and a telling of the actual Christmas story that shows us, once again, that the most significant moments can come from the most unexpected places.
