Vital Step to a Radiant Faith-Trust God for Guidance

May 8th, 2023 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – In the Year to Shine, today’s Vital Step to a Radiant Faith is trusting God for guidance.

God has a plan for our lives, and that plan is good. Billy Graham once said that “the will of God will not take us where the grace of God cannot sustain us”. God accomplishes His purposes through willing servants who say “yes” to His plan for their lives.

Proverbs 3:5 shows us how trust is the foundation that leads us into the path of God’s ways.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will direct your paths.”

Trusting God for guidance is a vital step to a radiant faith that makes a difference in our world.

Faith Building Verse-Psalm 23:3

October 10th, 2022 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – Today’s Faith-Building Verse is Psalm 23:3.

With the LORD as my Shepherd, “He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.”

Before knowing Jesus, our heart is polluted and corrupted by sin and wrong motives. But God’s grace is a life-changer. He is able to remove the pollution of our hearts to make them pure. He is able to correct wrong motives and make them rightly motivated by His love.

Charles Spurgeon once said, “For nourishment, comfort, exhilaration, and refreshment, no wine can rival the love of Jesus. Drink deeply.”

This Faith-Building Verse inspires us to find refreshment and direction by following Jesus in the Year of Relationship.

Daily Challenge-Stay Flexible To God’s Plans

July 21st, 2021 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – In the Year of Endurance, today’s Daily Challenge motivates us to stay flexible to God’s plans.

Sometimes, God will redirect us to a different place than we imagined going.

In the early church, Paul and his companions were trying to get to a place in Asia, but the Lord redirected them through a vision to go to Macedonia. This was how the Gospel was introduced through missionary activity in Europe.

When we give our lives to the Lord, we are giving Him the right to overrule our plans with His higher purposes. This requires trusting God to lead us, even if His guidance calls for an adjustment in our plans. He sees the bigger picture and He knows what He is doing.

Proverbs 16:9 says, “In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”

Take the daily challenge to stay flexible to God’s direction for our lives on the journey of faith.

20/20 Insight-The Holy Spirit-Reminding us of Jesus’ Words

May 29th, 2020 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – In the Year of Vision, today’s 20/20 Insight focuses on the work of the Holy Spirit to remind us of Jesus’ words.

In John 14:26, Jesus told His disciples, “The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”

Some of those disciples went on to write letters in the New Testament that were inspired by the Holy Spirit, namely Peter, John, and Matthew.

The Holy Spirit is our Advocate too, guiding us in the truth, and reminding us of the teachings of Jesus. When we read the Bible and take the teachings of Jesus to heart, we open the door for the Holy Spirit to guide us in the truth. The Holy Spirit is the holy Presence within us, moving us to do what is right in the eyes of God.

Focusing on the teachings of Jesus gives us greater clarity for living out the Christian life.

Moment Of Celebration-God’s Guidance

July 30th, 2014 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – Today’s Moment Of Celebration reflects on God’s guidance.

In Exodus 13:21, we learn how God guided and provided for the Israelites after they were released from slavery in Egypt.

“By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.”

The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire at night was an indication that God was present with the Israelites. God was making a way for them to move forward in His plan. Without the pillar of cloud in the day, the people would have baked in the desert sun. Without the fire by night, the people would have stumbled in the darkness. God has not left His people without tools to go forward in His plan. God’s Word is described as a lamp for our feet and a light for our path. God’s Presence serves as our shade to refresh us in the midst of circumstances that drain the soul. Psalm 121, verse 5 says, “The LORD watches over you-the LORD is your shade at your right hand.” With a teachable spirit, we can enjoy the journey of moving forward in God’s plan, under His presence, in light of His Word.

God’s guidance is a reason to be glad in the Year of Celebration.
