Today’s Opportunity To Grow-A Willing Heart
JOHN SHIRK – Today is an opportunity to grow toward Christ by being clothed with a willing heart.
A willing heart can be defined as “being ready to act gladly.” The picture of God’s love toward us is not one that is reluctantly given, but gladly given from a willing heart.
The Bible tells us that God so loved the world that He gave His One and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Zephaniah 3:17 tells us “the LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, and rejoice over you with singing.”
Just as God delights in loving His people, He wants us to delight in serving others. Christian leaders are urged to serve as overseers in the church, not because they must, but because they are willing as God wants them to be. It is also God’s will for us to be generous with a willing heart. Second Corinthians 9:7 tells us that “each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” The difference between a willing heart and a reluctant heart is the difference between joyful enthusiasm and just going through the motions.
A willing heart is a character quality that enables us to represent Jesus in the world today.
