WJTL’s 2012 MOTHER’S DAY CONTEST WINNER ANNOUNCED!

May 11th, 2012

Mother’s Day is coming up on Sunday, May 13th, 2012!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS YEAR’S WINNER, JENNIFER FISLER OF DILLSBURG!

Jennifer wrote in and said this about her mom, Barb Schmidt:

“As an adult I can now more fully appreciate what a stabilizing force my mom has been in my life. She is consistent in her love for God, for our family, and for others. Many times she could have given up on doing what is right and just given in to only looking out for herself, but she never did. She has held onto hope in doing good for others even when it is hard. That example of steadfastness, goodness, and sacrifice based on love is of great value to me now that I am a mom also.”

Jennifer won our prize pack to give to her mom!  It includes:

*4 Tickets for dinner and Beverly Lewis’ “The Confession” Musical at Bird-In-Hand Family Restaurant & Stage

*A Family 4 Pack of tickets to Dutch Wonderland

*A gift basket from Heavenly Soaps & Scents in Lititz ($100 value)

*A $150 gift card to Rockvale Outlets Lancaster

The one main thing I appreciate about my mom is that she adopted me, out of all the babies that could have been adopted, I was chosen. She taught me many things and helped me achieve my goals. If I wasn’t adopted, I’d probably still be in an orphanage over in China, waiting to be adopted. I am lucky to be adopted and living in the USA. She also brought me to know Jesus, read my bible, and follow what he wants. My mom is very special to me.

My mother means the world to me and i always try to get her something for mothers day. She has done so much for me and i just wanna give back and show her how much im thankful for her and what she has done for me. Its not easy to raise a child but shes doing such a great job and i just want to show her how thankful i am. I thank god all the time for my mother, because some kids grow up with out a mother. And i just want a day where she can feel special and like she can relaxe and enjoy herself because she deserves it. She raised me in the path of christ and made me understand that with out god were nothing.

My mom’s name is Rebecca. I appreciate so many things about my mom, but the thing I appreciate about her most is her strength and ability to persevere. My mom has been a single mom since 2006. She has raised my sister and me on her own while having a full- and part-time job. She also went to college part-time to achieve her Bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences. Even though she did it while working full-time and taking care of her house and children, she received second highest honors! My mom never complains about anything. She is a two-time cancer survivor and has other health issues, yet she always finds time to make sure our house is organized and that we stay on track with everything. In all of this, my mom has taught me how to be a true woman of God and serve others. She is the most generous person I know. I don’t know where I’d be without her. She is one of the biggest heroes in my life and she definitely deserves to win this contest!

One thing about my mom is that she is never to harsh or to sweet she is just right. Also she spends time with me when there is no one outside. She spends time for me and takes me to fun places.
She even passes the football with me. When we were tight on money she kept us living. Thank
you God for this great mom.

I want my mommy to have this. She plays with me and my baby sister all the time, but I never
see her go out with my daddy anymore, and I think it makes mommy sad. I am 4 years old, and
my baby sister is not even 1 years old yet. My mommy is so special to more than me and my
sister, she is special to my grandmas and my daddy, but I don’t know how to make my mommy
cry happy tears. I know I am not always a good little boy, but I am trying to be, and I want this mommys day to be really special for her. plus if she gets this, i gets to spend a day with my
mommy and my daddy having fun. I ask Jesus every day to help me be a good boy for mommy whiles daddys at work. I like talking to jesus and i think my mommy likes to hears me pray like
she teached me to do. we dons have lots of moneys but i think this would make my mommys
day be a really good day. My mommys my hero and i am teaching sissy to tell mommy shes our
    hero too.
