WJTL’s Contest For Single Parents!

November 11th, 2010

Here at WJTL, we know that we have a lot of listeners who are single parents.  We understand how challenging that can be, so we came up with a contest just for them!  So, if you’re a single parent–or if you know a single parent who could use a little help–then check out this prize pack that was put together to take care of the parent and build up their family while also helping out with things around their home!  (You can enter yourself or nominate a single parent!)

*One night of peace, quiet and refreshment at the Londonderry Inn Bed & Breakfast in Campbelltown, PA! Get the kids to Grandma and Grandpa’s or over to a friend’s house and take respite at the Londonderry Inn, where the innkeeper will make your bed and breakfast!  You’ll stay in the Shades Of Africa Room for this personal retreat, which is the Londonderry Inn’s most luxurious room, complete with king-sized canopy bed, gas fireplace and hot tub!  This gift certificate is for single occupancy only, is subject to availability and is not good for a holiday stay.  (Click the pictures to enlarge!)

*$100 gift certificate to Falling Waters Massage Therapy in Ephrata and Mt. Joy! They offer therapeutic massage, spa body treatments, skin care and spa packages!  With so much riding on your shoulders (kids AND responsibilities), a massage or treatment could be just what you need to feel relaxed and rejuvenated!

*$100 gift card to Stauffers Of Kissel Hill! This will help out big time at the check out next time you need to restock the cabinets and fridge!  They have locations in Lancaster, Lititz and a new location on Rohrerstown Road!  (Check them out on Facebook, too!)

Thanks so much for putting together a contest for the single parents! I will not be entering because my child is an adult now, but I know how much single parents of younger children
need a break & need encouragement. With some contests being for couples it is easy for us
singles to feel left out at times, but now you’re helping to care for us too. Thank You!!!

I don’t live in the area but, I wanted to leave and comment and commend you for trying to help single parents. Keep up the good work!

When i was 6 months old my mom found out that my dad was addicted to both drugs and alcohol.
It was a very hard situation for her but for my safty and hers she kicked him out. He would live with us sometime but then as soon as he messed up again my mom kicked him out. I honestly didn’t know him that well. Durring this my mom struggled alot finacialy and emotionaly. She was homeschooling me, working night shifts at a resturaunt, a child care provider durring the day and ended up starting her own homebassed buisness…very similar to Mary kay. As you can imagine this was very difficult for her. She also was trying her hardest to be very active in my life and be a good parent and deal with my dad. Many people called her “wonder woman” and still do. She continued all this and my dad continued with drugs and alcohol untill i was 9 years old. Finally my mom filed for a divorce. She also met another man durring the divorce process and started dating him. About 7 months after they started dating my parents were official divrced and my mom got re married. Then about 5 moths later my mom had another child. Then 13 months later she had another child and then about 18 months later she had another one. It was very hard for me. Adjusting to all this. It has now been 5 years since my first sibling was born and again we have another baby on the way. My house is very hectic. My dad has now been sober for almost 4 years. He is engaged. I still have days that i am sad but i think God really help my mom and i get through it. Somedays she feels like a single mom again. She stays home with me and my 3 almost 4 siblings and my step dad works durring the day. I think though that because of my moms continual strength and faith in Christ is the only way we made it through everything. If this contest was offered when my mom was single it would be just a pure blessing to her! I’m glad someone will have the opertunity to benifit from this! Thank you for thinking of the single parents! They really need this! ~Kierstin Foltz~ <3 😀

I’m a single parent Mother of 2 adopted foster children. They were babies when they came into our home. Their adopted Father didn’t want to raise them anymore & moved back to IL where he has family. It has been hard but the Lord has provided in so many ways including moving to Lancaster County in July. You’re station is “A Light in the Midst of Darkness”,we listen to the music when we are in the car coming home from Bible study & it builds us up in our Spirits. Thank you for the contest & all you do.

That’s too bad Mary–are you just sending your email in to Contest@WJTL.com? You don’t need to include stories or pictures or any large content. If that still doesn’t work, you could send us a post card. The mailing address is above and you still have time!

I saw that only one entry is permitted per household. If I am nominating other people, am I allowed to nominate more than one person? I would be submitting two entries, but they are for other people. so I wasn’t sure if that was considered one entry for ea. of their households or if it would be counted as entering more than once.

HI Jodie! We appreciate you asking! For this contest, we do want to keep it to one entry (for self or for nomination) per household. So while it’s tough to do, try to narrow it down in your big heart to which one you’d like to nominate and send it in. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the contest and for recognizing that there are single dads out there too. My brother raised two boys alone and did a wonderful job because now they are two great young men.
    Blessings

Thank you for this opportunity to submit my entry. I am the mother of 4 children — one of whom was killed in 2004. I have a married daughter and currently am living with 2 of my children. I also reside with my elderly mother who is a blessing in our lives. This last year, I went through a divorce due to abuse. However, God is my Friend of Friends and my Jehovah Jirah, my provider. Although it is not easy making ends meet, He is showing me each day that it’s a faith walk. Thank you for this opportunity. Love always.
