5K Will Aid Street Children in Ghana

Runners and walkers can enjoy a flat, family-friendly 5K, pick up a performance t-shirt, and win prizes while raising money for a good cause.

The 9th annual Arm of Hope 5K will start at 9 a.m. from Hope Community Church, 1806 Harrisburg Avenue, Mount Joy, on Saturday, May 21. Register at armofhopeinghana.org/5k by May 7 to receive a race shirt. There are Baked good awards for men and women in 5-year age groups beginning with ages 5 to 9, and many randomly selected door prizes will also be awarded.

Registration is by donation only. Proceeds will help bring children out of the slum to a summer camp for fun, education, and Bible lessons. The camp is conducted by Arm of Hope, a US/Ghanaian partnership that runs Bible clubs and provides counseling, health care, and education for children living in the streets and slums of Ghana.

5K runners and walkers will be given the option to participate in peer-to-peer fundraising to multiply their impact by raising even more funds through email and social media. Thank-you gifts for raising funds include performance quarter-zips, hooded sweatshirts, and YETI stainless-steel tumblers. The Arm of Hope 5K team is also seeking business sponsors. The sponsoring company’s logo can be printed on the race shirt.
