GriefShare – Christian-based grief support group

Christian-based grief support group offered at Hempfield UMC.

For many, it can be difficult to feel optimistic about the future after losing a spouse, child, family member, or friend. Those who are grieving often find that no one fully understands the profound hurt and loss they feel. This can be a very confusing time for grieving people – a time when they can feel isolated and have many questions about things they have never had to face before.

Hempfield UMC’s GriefShare program, a Christian-based grief support group, is designed to help those who are grieving face the challenges of losing someone they loved, as it helps them work toward rebuilding their lives, with an emphasis on moving from mourning to joy.

Robin Murray and Joyce Crider will help facilitate this session of GriefShare alongside Joyce Young, HUMC Director of Care & Minister of Visitation. The group meets weekly on Mondays from 1 – 2:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 15 through Nov. 14 at Hempfield United Methodist Church, room 124. (There is no meeting on Sept. 5.) The church is located at 3050 Marietta Ave., Lancaster.

Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements: a video, discussion, and personal study and reflection.
