Lititz Moravian Congregation Putz
This program is 18 minutes long and will be shown between 12PM and 2PM.
A Putz is a large diorama depicting events leading up to Jesus’ birth and then continuing to current times, and it was a Moravian tradition to set up one in the home. Eventually, the Christmas tree and other factors led to far fewer home Putzes. Churches took over the tradition by constructing them in a church building, and the Lititz Putz continues this 20th century tradition. It is made of ceramic figurines, with moss and miniature buildings, and a soundtrack with music and narrative.
