December 27th, 2012

RADIO FRIEND PHIL – Greetings! It’s time for this week’s New Tunes at 9 Roundup: New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL. New music available now: the new Smalltown Poets, seven-song EP, “Under the New Sun.” The new disc is the latest project for the band formed in Georgia back in 1996. They first achieved recognition with their self-titled debut, earning a Grammy nomination for “Best Gospel Rock Album.” Recently, on New Tunes at 9, I spoke to lead singer Michael Johnston about the band’s longevity and the primary themes on the new project, “Under the New Sun.”   (Click the link https://wjtl.com/listen/wjtl-casts/ and scroll down to 11-13-12 Smalltown Poets part one, two and three.)    To preview and purchase Smalltown Poets’ new project, “Under the New Sun,” and their recent Christmas project, “Smalltown Poets Christmas,” go to http://smalltownpoets.bandcamp.com/. (You’ll also find links to their facebook and you-tube pages, and smalltownpoets.tv.)
