New Tunes at 9 Roundup: JJ Heller

October 24th, 2013

RADIO FRIEND PHIL – Greetings! It’s time for this week’s New Tunes at 9 Roundup. (New Tunes at 9, one-hour of new and emerging music, weeknights at 9 p.m. on WJTL.) Singer/songwriter JJ Heller was a recent guest on New Tunes at 9. https://wjtl.com/listen/wjtl-casts/ (JJ and her husband, Dave, performed at the Junction Center earlier this year; click the ‘videos’ tab at wjtl.com.) JJ Heller’s sixth studio project is called, “Loved.”  JJ says, “Loved is a collection of songs that belong together; there’s a common thread connection in all of them. It’s setting our sights on the horizon instead of the few steps ahead.” For more on JJ Heller, go to http://www.jjheller.com/. You’ll find links to download her music on iTunes, plus facebook (where a fan recently commented, “Thank you for sharing your life with us. Most performers don’t; you’re so down-to-earth.”) I also recommend that you check out her creative lyric video for the new song, “Redemption.” The video is shot with a camera overlooking a table; JJ’s hand is seen holding markers and writing the lyrics to the song on a large, unruled notepad. Near the end of the video, the paper becomes sprinkled with cut-out butterflies and flowers. (You can find the the new lyric video at http://www.jjheller.com/)
