SUMMARY:Lititz CROP Hunger Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Lititz CROP Hunger Walk will take place on Sunday\, October 26 to help neighbors facing hunger around the block and around the world. With recent cuts to federal nutrition\, healthcare\, and humanitarian aid programs\, organizers say this year’s Walk is more urgent than ever. The planning team has set a goal of 25 Walkers and $5\,500 raised. A portion of funds will support Warwick Community HUB in Lititz\, with the balance supporting CWS (Church World Service) programs worldwide. The 1 or 3 mile walk will begin and end at Lititz Church of the Brethren\, 300 West Orange Street. Registration begins at 1pm and the walk starts at 1:30pm. \n“Did you know that the current poverty rate for the Warwick School District is 35.40%?* Everything we do at the Hub is aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty in our community. The Hub is stepping into these opportunities by building relationships in the areas of housing support\, food security\, and community connections.” – Warwick Community HUB\, www.warwick-hub.org (*As measured by the percentage of students qualifying for free and reduced lunches in the Warwick School District). \nAcross the United States\, reductions to key safety net programs – including SNAP (food stamps)\, Medicaid\, and the Child Tax Credit – are pushing more families to seek help from community food programs. SUMMARY:The Bike & Hike
DESCRIPTION:The 29th annual Bike & Hike\, hosted by COBYS Family Services\, will be held on Sunday afternoon\, September 7\, at the Lititz Church of the Brethren. This signature fundraiser and community event consists of a three-mile walk through Lititz\, a 10- or 25-mile bicycle ride\, and returning for a second year\, the Tasty Tour. The Tasty Tour is a 1.5 mile walk to Lititz with four stops at local eateries to sample tasty treats. All events end back at the church for the Incredible Ice Cream Celebration. First time and veteran participants are encouraged to join. \nRegistration is open now and runs through the day of the event for the three-mile walk and bicycle rides. The Tasty Tour is pre-registration only until August 25 so participants can enjoy treats from Dosie Dough\, Café Arabella\, Cavolo! and Slate Café. Walk and ride registration is $30 and Tasty Tour is $60 with early bird discounts available. Pre-registration is encouraged\, and participants can even create their own online fundraising page.
