Could watching football ever lead to salvation? For David Grumme’s children, it did! Grumme tweeted that his children gave their lives to Christ as a result of watching a commercial. Focus on the Family aired the commercial during the Broncos-Patriots playoff game. The commercial featured children reciting John 3:16. When Grumme asked his older son why the commercial influenced him more than church, he responded, “I saw other kids my age that were excited about Jesus.”

Here’s this week’s Real News of Inspiration from YDR.com’s John Hilton. Have you ever wondered what you will do when you retire? Maybe you dream of moving somewhere with warm waves and sand. Ron and Joan Drayer had other plans. After retiring, they felt called to minister in York City, particularly the Salem Square neighborhood. Prior to moving there in January of 2011, they had never lived in the city. Now they are making relationships and helping out wherever they can to assist the Salem Square Community Association to turn the area around. John has been helping with Habitat for humanity and there has been an emphasis on home ownership. Many of the residents of Salem Square rent and cannot see the big picture. When asked about their decision to move into the toubled neighborhood, Joan Drayer comments,”I think God wanted us to move up here…and we are just going along with it to see if we can help.”

Can you imagine losing your entire family in the span of a few minutes? Robert Rogers doesn’t have to imagine. While driving with his family, a flash flood swept his car off the road and scattered his family. When he finally emerged from thewater, Robert was more than a mile away from his vehicle. While vainly trying to rescue his children-still in cars seats-Robert remembers feeling a strange peace. He said of the incident, “I could literally sense the peace of God assuring methat they were all going to heaven and that it was all going to be OK.” Now Robert Rogers uses this tragedy to encourage others in their faith by living with no regrets. His ministry is completely funded by donations and sales of his book, “Into the Deep: One Man’s Story of How Tragedy
Took His Family but Could Not Take His Faith.” For more information on Robert Rogers, visit www.Intothedeep.org.

What would you do if doctors told you that your baby would not live much past birth? Mark and Kristin Cote, of Millersville prayed that their unborn child would be a servant. When she was born, Victoria Grace only lived 6 days, but her legacy has become much more than her fragile little body’s birth defect. Mark, while on a missions trip to Peru saw that children were dying due to lack of easily accessible medicines and knew how to continue his dear daughter’s legacy. The family set up a fund and ministry called Victoria’s Little Lambs. In its first 6 months the ministry helped 60 children. Since then the ministry has also expanded to Ethiopia and helps approximately 45 children a month. The Cote family recently visited Peru and was amazed at how many children were being helped by Victoria’s Little Lambs. Mark Cote commented, “One thing we continually marvel at is, now that she’s gone, how her legacy is impacting the nations, even one so far away and seemingly so different than the U.S. And that’s a lesson of how God can fully use a servant who belongs to him.” For more information or to donate you can contact Zion Church of Millersville, 317 N. George St. Millersville, PA 17551.

Can one letter really make a difference in someone’s life? Rasheen Glover found out that it can. Glover, a former drug dealer, received a letter from someone in prison that he knew from his years on the streets. Through correspondence, his friend in prison became saved. Glover says he can see a difference in his entire view of life. In an effort to help others come to Christ, Glover held “Rack da Reservoir” last year and six people came to Christ through his testimony. This year, “Rock da Reservoir” will be held Saturday August 20th in Reservoir Park in Lancaster. Glover hopes to continue reaching people who are living in the lifestyle he formerly lived in. Glover says that people who are living in that lifestyle can relate to his testimony and be changed to live for Christ.
