ASHLEA BRENEMAN – Okay. I know, I know! I write a lot about John Mark, and you’ve heard John’s name a lot on WJTL recently (thank you Creation Survival Kit Contest), but I can’t help it! I honestly think John Mark is one of the best lyricists today. Inside the church – and out.  He has an ability to explain timeless truths about Jesus in refreshing new ways. I would feel like I’m failing as a lover of music if I didn’t inform you about him.

He is set to re-release The Medicine on July 6, and it will feature four new songs. You can see JMM perform at this year’s Creation East Festival and he will make his second appearance on the Gallery Stage at this year’s Purple Door Festival. Here’s John talking about the album and a video of him performing “Death In His Grave” a great song featured on The Medicine. Enjoy!

Lyrics to “Death In His Grave”

Though the Earth cried out for blood
Satisfied her hunger was
Billows calmed on raging seas
For the souls of men she craved

Sun and moon from balcony
Turned their head in disbelief
Their precious Love would taste the sting
Disfigured and disdained

On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But woke with the keys
Of Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ laid
Death in his grave

So 3 days in darkness slept
The Morning Sun of righteousness
But rose to shame the throws of death
And overturn his rule

Now daughters and the sons of men
Would pay not their dues again
The debt of blood they owed was rent
When the day rolled a new

On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But awoke holding keys
To Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ
Laid death in his grave

He has cheated Hell and seated us above the fall
In desperate places he paid our wages one time once and for all

Have you heard???

ASHLEA BRENEMAN – In addition to the already amazing line-up for this year’s Purple Door Festival, (we’re celebrating 15 years!!) someone new just got added. And I think you might be surprised and excited too!

I’m not sure how many years it’s been since she’s made an appearance at the festival or if she’s ever performed solo there. But what better way to celebrate 15 years of Purple Door then by having Leigh Nash come perform!

She’ll be gracing the Gallery stage at this year’s festival Saturday afternoon. We’re so happy that she’s coming and Kristi Leigh already has dibs in to interview her!

Tickets are on sale now for Purple Door. Make sure that you are a friend of Purple Door on Facebook or that you follow PD on Twitter because we’re in a generous mood this year and we’ll be giving you lots of chances to win free tickets to this year’s fest.
