2025 is the Year of God’s Word at WJTL.
Phillipians 4:19
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
God continues to provide me with what I need. He has never failed me in His promises.
-Holly Baim from Robesonia
Isaiah 35:10
“And those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”
I painted this verse in my kitchen on the wall above my sink. I go there when I feel depression starting… It speaks to my doubts with the message: God rescued me! I am going to enter Heaven with singing. He will give me a crown of Joy forever! Gladness and joy will overtake my sadness and depression. I will be free of sad, doubtful thoughts.
-Ilene Glatfelter of York
Matthew 5:16
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
I taught in public high school for 20 years and developed close relationships with my students and colleagues. I could not openly share my faith so I trusted the Lord to let my light shine in ways that others could see something different in me. He answered that prayer in so many wonderful ways. I continue to let my light shine in the darkness so that I can point the way to Jesus.

Phillipians 4: 7 & 13
7 “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” 13 “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
These verses have given me strength through the circumstances of my life. We must come back to the Vine to receive the filling up or recharging-to listen to our Helper, the ever-present Holy Spirit to continue to live more like Christ and actively share His love with the oppressed and proclaim freedom for the captives.
-Joy R. from Harrisburg
Mich 6:8
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
This verse has always gotten me back on the right path when I wanted to veer.
-Beth Bensing from Lebanon
1 Corinthians 10:13
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to man. And He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
As a recovering alcoholic, this verse has given me strength over the past 40 years to realize that God is there, and He is faithful to help us overcome any temptation that comes our way as long as we keep our eyes on Him.
-Ray Tryvonich
Psalm 23
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
I’ve always just loved Psalm 23. It makes me all warm inside when I need it, and even when I don’t.
-Deb Sklar from Lancaster
Proverbs 16:9
“In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”
This verse came into my life profoundly at the beginning of 2020. It has ever been more true of us making our plans, but knowing God ultimately determining our steps. Nothing could be more true than this past year when we were surprised by a fourth baby who arrived in January 2025.
-Ashley Ibrahim from Middletown
John 10:27-29
“Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.””
This statement is meaningful to me because Jesus reminds His followers that we are intricately tied to God. Nothing is going to snatch us from Him. He’s not going to leave us. Because of Him, we have eternal life, and that is going to be AWESOME!
-Mark Wakefield from Harrisburg
Psalm 23:4
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, they comfort me.”
It’s reassuring me that I have nothing to fear because my ABBA in heaven is always with me no matter what I go through in life.
-Vivienne Kham from Austin, Minnesota
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
This passage has been a great source of encouragement to me for years. It has directed me to think rightly, and to lean on Him who knows all; who is the source of everything; who knows the beginning from the end and can be fully trusted to lead me on the correct path.
-Joanne Huber from Lancaster
Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
This is one of several verses that helps me deal with the struggles that inevitably come in life, allowing me to view those struggles from a Godly perspective. He always comes through, even in the darkest moments.
-Lanny Millette from Leola
Isaiah 40:31
“Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
This verse is meaningnful because of the strength that God gives us for what we go through in our lives.
-Ruth White from New Holland
Hebrews 13:5-6
“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?’”
This has been my life verse since he was a young teenager. In this crazy world, it’s comforting to me to know that God is always with me and will not abandon me. Verse 6 reminds me that He is right there helping me each day, so I don’t need to be afraid of what man may try to do to me.
-Rick Fry from York
Esther 4:14
Mordecai delivered this message to his cousin Queen Esther as the Jews were facing threats of genocide.
“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
It reminds me that even though I may not know why I’m here in this world, I can know that God has put me here for a special purpose.
-Angela Blocker from Harrisburg
Psalm 121:1-2
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains-where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
This Psalm reminds me that I need to keep my eyes on God. He is my Deliverer and strength. He is always there with me in every situation.
-Patricia Celsky from Harrisburg
Isaiah 43:1-3
“This is what the LORD says-he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”
These are several verses that God has used in a hard season of my life. At times it was the only thing that kept me afloat. These verses remind me that God has me and won’t let me go. I am so thankful for God’s Word, His incredible love, and being with me in all seasons of my life.
-Rhonda Reynard from Lititz
Philippians 4: 6, 7, & 13
6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” 13 “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
This verse reminds me to put all my trust in God and he will take care of me and direct my paths as he is the all powerful God.
-Scott Boorse from West Chester
Exodus 23:20
“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.”
This was the first verse that my husband and I learned together when they were dating. Marriage only lasted 24 years. Verse is eternal.
-Barbara Leaman from Lititz
Psalm 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
This verse is meaningful because we will know when god is speaking to us.
