Christian-based grief support group offered at Hempfield UMC
For many, it can be difficult to feel optimistic about the future after losing a spouse, child, family member or friend. Those who are grieving often find that no one fully understands the profound hurt and loss they feel. This can be a very confusing time for grieving people – a time when they can feel isolated and have many questions about things they have never had to face before.
Hempfield church’s GriefShare program, a Christian-based grief support group, is designed to help those who are grieving face the challenges of losing someone they loved and helps them work toward rebuilding their lives, with an emphasis on moving from mourning to joy.
Shirley Sload and Janice MacVaugh will help facilitate our next session of GriefShare alongside Joyce Young, HUMC Director of Care & Minister of Visitation. The group will meet weekly on Mondays from 6:30 – 8 p.m. beginning Feb. 10 through May 12 at the Hempfield church, in room 170. The church is located at 3050 Marietta Ave., Lancaster.
Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements: a video, discussion, and personal study and reflection.
The registration fee for the program is $20, which is payable by cash or check at the first session. Please register online at hempfieldumc.org/grief. For more information contact Joyce Young, HUMC Director of Care at jyoung@hempfieldumc.org or 717-285-5156.
