Advent Tea, Christmas Market, and Putz open at noon.
Relax from shopping and warm up with some hot drinks, Moravian sugar cake, and baked goods in Fellowship Hall and surrounds at 8 Church Square, Lititz (facing Main Street). There is live music, featuring the Lititz Music Academy of Music Strings. The event is open to the public for all ages, and free of charge. Donations are accepted to offset the cost, and all funds raised go directly to local and global charities. This event is wheelchair accessible.
New for this year, we will have a Maker’s Market including jewelry, painted shell ornaments, needle felting, and more! Plus there will be vintage earrings, vintage jewelry, gently used books and CDs, and holiday fresh greens and arrangements for sale. All vendors will be on the first floor adjacent to Fellowship Hall or in the back lobby.
The Putz is shown every half hour from noon till 3pm (this program is 18 minutes long, with the last showing starts at 2:30. A Putz is a large diorama using figures and landscapes to depict the story of Jesus’ birth. Originally, the purpose was to convey the story of Jesus to people- and especially children- who could not read or write. It is a tradition that dates back to St. Francis of Assisi: and, unlike a creche, which depicts only Jesus’ birth, The Putz depicts the events prior to, and following His birth. Our diorama has a soundtrack to accompany the scriptures.)
The Moravian Mission Gift Shop (across the street from the Advent Tea) will be open from 10-4:00 and has many Christmas gifts and Moravian stars for sale.
