The Brethren Disaster Relief Auction is happening Friday and Saturday, September 27th & 28th.

The annual family-friendly benefit auction raises money to support the work of Brethren Disaster Ministries – serving in clean-up and rebuilding projects around the US and worldwide.

WJTL will be on-location on Friday, September 27th from 1pm-3pm with contests and giveaways.

 The Brethren Disaster Relief Auction is comprised of hundreds of generous volunteers who share of their time, talents, and resources. In addition, there are many hundreds more who are supportive with their finances and donate items to be sold as well as providing funds to accomplish the purpose of raising funds for disaster relief work.

Brethren Disaster Ministries (BDM), a program of the Church of the Brethren, restores hope for the most vulnerable disaster survivors by engaging volunteers to repair and rebuild storm-damaged homes, and by providing grants to support the disaster recovery efforts of faith-based partners.

Children’s Disaster Services (CDS) meets the needs of children by setting up child care centers in shelters and disaster assistance centers.  Specially trained to respond to traumatized children, volunteers provide a calm, safe and reassuring presence in the midst of the chaos created by disasters.  CDS also educates parents and caregivers on how to help children cope.
