Today’s Word from God’s Word-Shepherd
JOHN SHIRK – Today’ Word from God’s Word is Shepherd.
In Bible Times, the role of the shepherd was to protect their sheep and lead them to places where they could be well-nourished. That would mean giving them access to a gentle stream and fertile pasture.
David knew what it was like to be a shepherd. He wrote in Psalm 23:1-The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.”
Jesus described Himself as the Good Shepherd. In John 10:14, Jesus said, “I know my sheep and my sheep know me-just as the Father knows me and I know the Father-and I lay down my life for the sheep.”
