First Friday: Classical Cello

Lancaster Cellist Sara Male will be featured in a free 30 minute First Friday concert on May 3, 2024 at First Reformed Church, 40 E. Orange Street, in downtown Lancaster. Sara is principal cellist of the York Symphony Orchestra, acting principal cellist of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra and Chair of the LSO Board of Directors. She regularly performs with the Reading Symphony, Kennett Symphony and Harrisburg Symphony. Her selections will include Saint-Saens “The Swan”, Haydn’s “Divertimento”, and “Sicilienne” by Maria Theresia Von Paradis. She will be accompanied at the piano by Larry Hershey.

The First Friday concert series is a gift to the community from First Reformed Church, a center city congregation of the United Church of Christ. Only 30 minutes in length, the free concerts begin at 8 PM each First Friday for the convenience of those who wish to spend the early evening visiting downtown galleries before the concert. Doors open at 7:30 pm. All are welcome to hear 30 minutes of inspiring music that will refresh your soul and inspire your spirit.

Free Christian Hip Concert

This is a free Christian Hip Concert/Outreach featuring former WWE Superstar Michael Tarver. He is now a CHH artist signed to the God Over Money record label, and is known as Monster Tarver. He will minister through his own original hip hop music, and will share parts of his testimony of overcoming depression and homelessness, even while he lived out his dream of being a WWE wrestler and appearing in Wrestle Mania 24.

Then Sings My Soul: Hymns & Songs Inspired by the Ministry of Billy Graham

Then Sings My Soul is an original musical program featuring over 30 hymns, their histories and their connection to the life and ministry of Billy Graham. Featuring professional vocalists from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, live musical accompaniment and original and inspiring arrangements, these hymns are re-inspired for a new generation and sure to encourage and touch your soul. Enjoy favorites such as How Great Thou Art, I’d Rather Have Jesus, His Eye is on the Sparrow, Amazing Grace and Because He Lives. There’s even a couple of old-fashioned hymn sing-a-longs, just like in the “good old days”!

Servant Stage Company’s Monday Night Theatre Class

Servant Stage offers weekly in-person, drop-in classes for all ages! Classes include dance, acting, improv, and more, with a variety of instructors.

Class Description for Monday, March 4
ACTING THROUGH SONG with Sierra Naomi
6:00-7:00 PM | Ages 8-13
7:15-8:15 PM | Ages 11-18

Develop your musical theatre performance during this Acting Through Song class. This class will allow you to explore storytelling through the combined skills of singing and acting. Each student will have the opportunity to get up and work on their prepared material through individual coaching. Whether you’re up on your feet working or watching someone else work, you will learn how to bring more truth and specificity to your performance. *Each student should come prepared with a song to work on and a recording of the accompaniment track. This can be a song you’re working on for auditions, a song you love to sing, or something brand new that you’re exploring. Please also have your sheet music handy.* Location: Lancaster County Christian School, 2390 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. First Friday: Sound the Trumpet!

Trumpeter Doug Albert will be featured in a free 30 minute First Friday concert on March 1, 2024 at First Reformed Church, 40 E. Orange Street, in downtown Lancaster. Mr. Albert will perform on four trumpets (B-Flat, E-Flat, Piccolo, and Flugelhorn). Selections will include “The Trumpet Shall Sound” from George Frederic Handel’s ‘Messiah’, along with Eric Ewazen’s “Prayer and Praise”, and songs of our childhood including “Jesus Loves Me” and “Simple Gifts”. The concert will conclude with “Presto” from ‘Concerto in C Minor’ by Johann Sebastian Bach and Alessandro Marcello. He will be accompanied at the piano by Larry Hershey.

Autumn Music Celebration with Richard Bosworth

Richard Bosworth, D.M.A., of Seattle, Wash., will perform. A concert pianist and artist, as well as a piano teacher, Richard has performed around the world. He was a special invited guest to the White House. The public is invited to attend this special concert. This event is located at 433 S Kinzer Ave, New Holland.
