Here’s this week’s Real News of Inspiration from the Christian Post’s Anugrah Kumar

Do you know any Olympic Gold Medalists who have professed faith in Christ?  Recently, Scott Hamilton was featured in a video in which he professed his Christian faith and spoke on how he came to faith in Christ.  Hamilton met his wife during his diagnoses of cancer in 1997.  She was a Christian and took him to church.  There the pastor told him that Christianity is a faith of history and the events in the bible actually took place.  Hamiltom was intrigued and came to faith through that meeting.  He traced the events in his live and could see how God was there during the good times and bad.  At the end of the video, Hamilton sumarized, “I am Scott Hamilton and I am second.”

Could watching football ever lead to salvation?  For David Grumme’s children, it did!  Grumme tweeted that his children gave their lives to Christ as a result of watching a commercial. Focus on the Family aired the commercial during the Broncos-Patriots playoff game.  The commercial featured children reciting John 3:16.  When Grumme asked his older son why the commercial influenced him more than church, he responded, “I saw other kids my age that were excited about Jesus.”

Here’s this week’s Real News of Inspiration from YDR.com’s John Hilton.  Have you ever wondered what you will do when you retire?  Maybe you dream of moving somewhere with warm waves and sand.  Ron and Joan Drayer had other plans.  After retiring, they felt called to minister in York City, particularly the Salem Square neighborhood.  Prior to moving there in January of 2011, they had never lived in the city.  Now they are making relationships and helping out wherever they can to assist the Salem Square Community Association to turn the area around.  John has been helping with Habitat for humanity and there has been an emphasis on home ownership.  Many of the residents of Salem Square rent and cannot see the big picture.  When asked about their decision to move into the toubled neighborhood, Joan Drayer comments,”I think God wanted us to move up here…and we are just going along with it to see if we can help.”

Can you imagine not being able to communicate verbally?  For Molly Hess of Manheim Township, it isn’t hard.  She was born with cerebral palsy, which limits her ability to communicate, talk and feed herself.  She is able to show how much she enjoys her favorite Christian Musician Nicole C Mullen by singing along.  For her 18th birthday, her father Don, decided to take a long shot and contact the artist about playing for his daughter’s birthday.  Nicole was free and said she would honored.  The Hess’s church helped raise all the money to make the concert free for Molly’s family and anyone who was able to attend.  Don Hess commented, “She loves music, and she loves to smile.”

How often do you visit old friends from Elementary School, let alone talk to them?  For a small group of residents of Norwegian descent at Willow Valley, they do more than visit, they live together.  This group originally met at church when some of them were as young as 8 years old.  Though many of them followed different paths, they all reunited at the Bibletown Conference Center in Boca
Raton about 15 years ago.  One winter, they decided to move to Willow Valley together.  When asked what holds their tight enduring bond, Amy Jacobsen remarked, “The golden thread that draws us all together is the love of Jesus Christ.”

Can you imagine losing your entire family in the span of a few minutes?  Robert Rogers doesn’t have to imagine.  While driving with his family, a flash flood swept his car off the road and scattered his family. When he finally emerged from thewater, Robert was more than a mile away from his vehicle.  While vainly trying to rescue his children-still in cars seats-Robert remembers feeling a strange peace.  He said of the incident, “I could literally sense the peace of God assuring methat they were all going to heaven and that it was all going to be OK.”  Now Robert Rogers uses this tragedy to encourage others in their faith by living with no regrets.  His ministry is completely funded by donations and sales of his book, “Into the Deep: One Man’s Story of How Tragedy
Took His Family but Could Not Take His Faith.”  For more information on Robert Rogers, visit www.Intothedeep.org.
