Welcome to April Showers season! Today’s program features a related theme in the 8:00 hour. Here are the verses I mention:
Ezekial 34:26
I will make them and the places surrounding my hill a blessing.[a] I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing.
Isaiah 44:3
For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
Hosea 6:3
Let us acknowledge the Lord;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.
Isaiah 45:8
Rain down, you heavens, from above,
And let the skies pour down righteousness;
Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation,
And let righteousness spring up together.
I, the Lord, have created it.

“For your own transformation, you need to start singing at church.
You need to celebrate what God has done in your life and thank Him through song.
Some of you might call yourself “prison singers”—
you’re always behind a few bars and you never have the right key!
But the Bible doesn’t say to make your singing pretty; it says to make it joyful!”

JOHN SHIRK – Today’s Promise of Hope is based on Exodus 33:14.
Being a leader of a group of people can be a lonely place, especially when facing a difficult decision. Moses led Israel through a desert experience, and sometimes, his own people rebelled against his leadership. Where would Moses turn for guidance?
One day he had a conversation with God. He prayed, “If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways, so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”
The LORD replied to Moses’ prayer, saying, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
That is exactly what Moses needed to hear, and Jesus said something similar to us in Matthew 11:28. He said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Rest for the soul is a promise of hope for those who follow Jesus in the Year of Trust.

Yulissa Likes Chickens and is Learning About Jesus
stacey : March 21, 2017 4:31 pm : Stacey Gagne, Staff PagesAs we have prepared for our 27 Hours of Compassion, I found myself going through letters and photos from the little girls that I sponsor. Yulissa is the little girl that I sponsor from Guatemala. In some of her letters to me she has shared:
- prayer requests for her family
- she likes the story of creation
- she loves to sing
- she loves to color and paint
- she has sent hugs
- she has received Jesus as her Savior
- she is learning to pray
- she wants to be as obedient as Mary the Mother of Jesus
In her most recent letter, Yulissa mentioned that her favorite pets are her cat and chickens. It’s evident in her artwork below.
I love to encourage her, to let her know that I am praying for her and keep reminding her that Jesus loves her.
I encourage you to consider starting this kind of special relationship as an individual or a family today! Visit http://compassion.com/wjtl where you can see all the children awaiting sponsorship and prayerfully consider who you may be able to encourage!
Looking Forward to 27 Hours of Compassion March 21 and 22
stacey : March 20, 2017 7:00 am : Stacey GagneAt WJTL we enthusiastically support the mission of Compassion International to release children from poverty in Jesus name. Our own staff and thousands of area listeners have experienced first-hand the impact of Compassion International through child sponsorship even visiting various projects all over the world.
In February, Fred and Lisa joined a sponsor trip and visited our most recently sponsored project GU501 in Guatemala plus spent time with their own sponsored children. On March 21 and 22 they’ll share more about their trip, plus other local sponsors and staff will be sharing their stories and we’ll be giving opportunities for you to sponsor children from Guatemala, Central America and in various parts of the world.
Tune in on on March 21 and 22 for our 27 Hours of Compassion from 6am to 8pm Tuesday and 6am to 7pm Wednesday. Visit compassion.com/wjtl to see photos of children awaiting sponsorship and prayerfully consider sponsoring a child. We’ll be highlighting various profiles from this page during our on air event.
You can also check out the fantastic photos from Fred and Lisa’s recent trip to Guatemala at our Flickr page.
