Nashville, TN – (May 16, 2011) — Fervent Records’ reigning Dove Awards “New Artist of the Year” Chris August is unwrapping the music video for “Candy Wrap” on CCM’s popular website NewReleaseTuesday.com today, May 16. Directed by August and Fervent Records’ Kellyn Bailey and starring well over 60 types of candy, the video will be featured exclusively on the site for 24 hours. Beginning Tuesday, May 17 the video will be available at iTunes. View the sugar rush here
A fun, light-hearted song about loving all types of candy, “Candy Wrap” is one of the Texas native’s most requested songs and a fan-favorite.
“All of my songs come from an honest place and well… ‘Candy Wrap’ was inspired by my love for candy, all varieties that is. I don’t discriminate!” laughs August. “I started playing this song live and the audience loved it. So I recorded it for fun, and even shot a music video. I hope my fans enjoy it and join me in the candy wrap. Reese’s anyone?”
Fervent Records’ Chris August is quickly becoming a favorite in the CCM genre. With an impressive sweep at the 42nd Annual Dove Awards, he earned awards for “New Artist of the Year” and “Male Vocalist of the Year,” adding him to an elite group of only three artists in the history of the show who have received both awards. He also claimed the nod for “Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year” for his debut album No Far Away that he co-produced with acclaimed producer Ed Cash. The album delivered August’s debut single “Starry Night,” which hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian/AC chart in September and stayed put for six weeks as well as the hit follow-up single “7×70,” launching this self-taught pianist, guitarist, and producer as an artist in his own right. Featuring a resonant collection of soulful pop-rock sing-alongs, touching balladry, and heart-on-sleeve lyricism, No Far Away has become the best-selling New Artist project released in 2010. A native of Dallas, TX, August previously toured as the keyboard player and opening act for pop sensation Ashlee Simpson and worked with Ryan Cabrera, Brian McKnight, and Jessica Simpson before shifting his focus to a solo career.

My Quest For Pronunciation Led To A Fun Surprise!
Praise & Worship Playlist : February 7, 2011 5:07 pm : Kristi Leigh, musicKRISTI LEIGH – I admit it: we DJs don’t always know how to pronounce artist names. I’ve been listening to Brett Younker’s worship CD “The New Has Come” lately and wanted to play one of his songs on the radio today, but didn’t know if his last name is pronounced like “Yownker” or “Youngker” or “Yonker.” So, I turned to You Tube in hopes of finding Brett himself saying his own last name. And it worked! But not only did I find it (and he says it “Yonker” by the way)–I also ran into a randomly delightful video of Brett and his buddy Pat, who happens to be from the band Unhindered (which I refer to as “The Smiling Band.”) So it turned out that the search led me to even more than I was looking for, which all the more satisfying. It reminds me of the verse in Proverbs 25:2 which says “It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.”
Here’s the video I found!

Shane B. Sings On His Tippy Toes In The Studio!
Praise & Worship Playlist : October 7, 2010 3:00 pm : Kristi Leigh, musicKRISTI LEIGH — Shane & Shane have been in the studio lately working on their new album. I had no idea that Shane B. would sing on his tippy toes this much! I love it! (And I know they don’t actually show his toes…it just totally looks like he takes a deep breath and gets up on his toes to sing each phrase!) It’s also cool to see and hear the before/after kind of thing in this video. It goes from Shane B. singing his vocal part in the studio and then you hear it mixed in at the sound board! Enjoy!

Laura Story’s Indescribable Story
Praise & Worship Playlist : September 28, 2010 3:15 pm : Kristi Leigh, musicKRISTI LEIGH — You know that song “Indescribable?” Well, Laura Story wrote the lyrics for it on a bank deposit slip one day when she was driving. She also started out in music playing piano and the stand up string bass as a ten year old. She’s down-to-earth and funny–and she’s going to be a wonderful part of the National Worship Leaders Conference next week! She did an interview today on the radio– listen to it here. Laura and her husband Martin have worshiped through cancer, too–and that’s a tough thing to do. Check out Laura Story’s Story in this video! (I’ll warn you ahead of time, it’s a bit of a tear jerker!)
