God Quote-Blessed Are Those Who Mourn
JOHN SHIRK – In the Year of God’s Word, this is what the Lord says in Matthew 5:4.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
This refers to sorrow over our sin-the kind of sorrow that moves us to repent. Second Corinthians 7:10 tells us that godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret.
Honesty before God is the first step to dealing with our sinful actions so that it no longer has a stronghold over us. This is called Confession. When we come to God with our true confessions, we do not have to fear condemnation. We will find forgiveness, resulting in peace with God and the desire to go forward in obedience to God. We will have the assurance of His love and favor.
The comfort of God’s grace rests on those who mourn with a contrite heart.
