God Quote-Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed Be Your Name
JOHN SHIRK – In the Year of God’s Word, this is what the Lord says in Matthew 6:9.
Jesus taught us how to pray, starting with these words. “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.”
What a privilege to be able to address God as our Father. This is because of the great love that He has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God. Acknowledging God’s loving authority over us is a good place for our mind to be when we approach the throne of grace.
“Hallowed” means “Set apart as Holy and worthy of reverence.” We are lifting our prayers to One who is greater than ourselves. This prayer starts with an expression of worship, reminding us that God is worthy of our respect and devotion.
