God Quote-Tithing

JOHN SHIRK – In the Year of God’s Word, this is what the LORD says in Malachi 3:10.

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

A tithe is considered to be one-tenth of our income. This was one of the ways that the Israelites were instructed to honor God with their wealth. Jesus affirmed the value of tithing in His teachings, but He also warned that there were more important matters to heed. He pointed out the tithing practices of the Pharisees, but then said, “You have neglected the more important matters of the law-justice, mercy and faithfulness.”

There are refreshing blessings in being a cheerful, generous giver. But it is also good to remember that there is more to the Christian life than tithing. God wants us to uphold His justice, mercy, and faithfulness in how we live out our faith.
