Prayer Focus-Temple
JOHN SHIRK – In the Year of Focus, we take a look at God’s temple as a house of prayer.
In Isaiah 56:7, the LORD says, “My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.”
When Jesus cleansed the temple, He quoted this Old Testament passage.
Today, the temple of the Lord stands, not as a building, but as the body of Christ. First Corinthians 6:19 tells us that since our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, we are called to honor God with our bodies. God uses prayer to cleanse our temple as we confess our sins and turn from them. He builds our lives on a firm foundation of grace and truth. His holy presence moves us to a place of loving Him with a heart of worship.
God’s temple as a house of prayer is worth examining for a faith-focused life.
