8th Annual Mental Illness Awareness Walk

8th Annual Mental Illness Awareness Walk on Oct. 14th at 10am. The walk will conclude the recognition of Mental Illness Awareness Week, October 1-7, and is a very important part of NAMI’s mission.

We’re still accepting vendors, with the exception of food vendors. Register at www.namiyork.org .  NAMI believes that mental illnesses are physical illnesses that affect the brain, and with treatment, most individuals can lead a productive and happy life. For over 33 years, NAMI York County has worked tirelessly to advocate for, support, and educate people with mental illness and their families.

Homestead Day Festival

The Homestead Day Festival will feature activities designed to delight residents, family and friends. Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Festival will feature entertainment for the whole family including games for children, delicious festival food, crafts, book sale, white elephant sale, and more! Chris Poje with be the interactive  DJ from   10-11, then Fred McNaughton will entertain from 11:15 to 12:15 with the Twin Rose Community Band ending up the day with some variety music.

There will be a bounce castle, the always well-received Benchfield Farms Wagonette Rides and Trist N Shout balloon art, all aimed to please children and the young at heart!  Homestead Day Festival is rain or shine, so mark your calendars and make it a “must attend” for your family and friends.  There is no fee to attend, but recommended to bring cash for games and food. http://www.homesteadvillage.org/community/events

Praise In The Park on Saturday, September 16 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM at Crouse Park and hosted by Bethel Assembly of God in Littlestown.  Music genres will include hymns, contemporary choruses, vocals, as well as instrumental pieces. Piercing Word Presents “Sermon on the Mount: the Musical”

The Piercing Word performance team will perform the original production “Sermon on the Mount:  The Musical” during free, public performances at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at Calvary Church in Lancaster.

Piercing Word performs scripture in dramatic and musical presentations, word for word from the ESV Bible, with the vision of “The Scripture is their script!” “Sermon on the Mount: The Musical” is the inspiring narrative of one of Jesus Christ’s most famous messages, featuring the Beatitudes (blessings of God) and some of the New Testament’s most well-known phrases.

Calvary’s Lower Auditorium will also host the rest of the 2017 Piercing Word Presents series, which includes “Ephesians” on Sept. 17 and “Grace Family Christmas” on Dec. 3.  Free tickets and more information are available at www.piercingword.org/presents.  The opportunity for a free-will donation is offered at the end of each performance.
