Arts in the Park

Elizabethtown’s annual Arts in the Park will be held on June 2 at the Elizabethtown Community Park from 9am – 3pm. Enjoy arts and crafts from vendors across the area, grab something tasty from various food trucks, and play in the specially-designed children’s area.

MEDA World Night Market

Live music, international food, a multi-cultural fashion show, and much, much more!  MEDA (Mennonite Economic Development Associates) invites people of all ages to MEDA’s World Night Market on May 18 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. in Binns Park (Lancaster City).  Admission is free.

World Night Market is an event designed to promote the mission and vision of MEDA, a nonprofit committed to creating business solutions to poverty around the world.  This event was inspired by night markets that originated in Asian cultures where tent vendors, food vendors and musicians gather together to block a street and create a unique atmosphere with all of the smells, sounds and activities of a typical marketplace.

Go Fly a Kite! Day & Healthy Kids Day

Bring a picnic lunch and spend a day in the park on April 28th from Noon-5pm at Youth Recreation Facility. Health and wellness information will be shared, along with fun games for all ages. Bring a store-bought kite or kids can make one in our Sled-Kite Workshop tent. See professional kite flying and stunts. Vote for your favorite in the Law Enforcement Vehicle Competition! This event is presented by the YMCA of Reading & Berks County and the Berks County Parks and Recreation Department.  Free admission and parking. TCCCA Earth Day Celebration

Join the fun at the free Conewago Creek Earth Day Celebration on the banks of the creek at Aberdeen Mills, Saturday, April 21st from 12 pm to 4 pm. There will be many fun and informative activities throughout the afternoon including live animals, guided walks, refreshments, and giveaways. Special presentations include Zoo America, wildflower walks, fish surveys, electro-fishing and more!

 

This is the tenth year of this fun, free, family oriented event, thanks to sponsorship from the Tri-County Conewago Creek Association (TCCCA) and the hospitality of Aberdeen Mills, a historic mill and farmstead in Elizabethtown. The watershed organization will be offering food items for sale with the proceeds benefiting TCCCA. Attendees can go home with free wildflower seeds or a native tree seedling. The rain date is April 22nd, with all other times remaining the same.

 

Tree planting starts at 9 am. Volunteers will receive a free meal from the food stand!

A wildflower and tree identification walk will kick off at 12 pm.

Tours through the old mill will also be offered.

Zoo America will be giving a live animal presentation at 1 pm. Feel free to bring along a lawn chair or blanket, if you prefer to sit during the show.

The Lancaster County Conservation District will give an electro-fishing demonstration at 3 pm.

 

TCCCA and Aberdeen Mills are part of the Conewago Creek Initiative, a partnership working collectively to restore water quality in the Conewago watershed.  Visit www.conewagoinitiative.net to learn more.

Amphibian Migration Registration

Amphibian Migration on April 21st from 6:30pm-8:30pm at Berks County’s Angora Fruit Farm which boasts many different species of frogs, toads, and salamanders which live or breed in the park’s diverse aquatic and wetland habitats.  A short program on the identification and life cycle of local amphibians will be given prior to the hike. Family Enrichment Night

We know that those who do not set goals will never reach them, and the same applies to our FAMILIES. Come discover God’s purpose for the family: to form our children’s desires for the things of God. On April 17 at 7 pm, Dr. Mark Cote, author of Think Kingdom, Be Family, will be challenging us to evaluate our family habits and values to be more intentional with the time we have with our children. This will be a parents-only event at Anchor Christian Academy.
