JOHN SHIRK – In the Year to Shine, today’s Vital Step to a Radiant Faith is to accept children with God’s love.
Jesus called a little child and had him stand among His disciples. Then He taught in Matthew 18:5, “Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.”
Jesus loves children. He demonstrated that in His earthly ministry with His prayers and affection. When the disciples wanted to keep the children away from Jesus, He called the children to come closer.
That is what can happen when we welcome a child in Jesus’ name-whether it’s helping with children’s ministry at church, or by becoming a sponsor for a child in another country to help them with daily necessities. Our loving outreach to them will give them a glimpse of how much Jesus loves them.
Accepting Children with God’s love is a vital step to a Radiant Faith that makes a difference in our world.

JOHN SHIRK – Today’s Key Element for Thriving Relationships is Acceptance of Little Children.
In Matthew 19:13, the people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
This was a great lesson of faith for the disciples to understand that Jesus loves the children of the world, and calls us to accept them.
We can be a voice of hope, truth, and encouragement for children by loving them with a tender heart. Look for opportunities to invest in their lives with the love of Jesus.
Jesus said in Mark 9:37, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me.”
Acceptance of Little Children is a key element for thriving relationships that honor God.

JOHN SHIRK – Today’s Persons of Integrity from the Bible are the children who shouted “Hosanna.”
Children were drawn to Jesus. He showed them respect and dignity. He pointed to children as role models of faith and humility for adults to emulate.
In Matthew 21:15, the chief priests and teachers of the law took notice that children were shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David.” They asked Jesus, “Do you hear what these children are saying?” Jesus replied, “Have you never read, ‘From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise?”
Elsewhere, with a child in the presence of Jesus, He said in Matthew 18:3, “Truly, I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
The faithfulness of little children to praise God with humble hearts inspires us to follow their example and to live a life of Integrity.
