First Friday “Organic Reflections” Organ Concert

On First Friday, August 2,  “Organic Reflections”, a free 30 minute concert, will feature guest organist Ken Krause playing the vintage 1958 analog Allen organ at First Reformed Church, 40 E Orange Street in downtown Lancaster.  The concert begins at 8 PM. Ken has selected a program of organ classics including works of Vierne and Guilmant. The First Friday “Organic Reflections” series is a gift to the Lancaster community from First Reformed Church, a center city congregation of the United Church of Christ. For the past 60 years, the mighty vintage analog Allen organ has been used every week to lead worship and accompany the choir at First Reformed United Church of Christ. Music lovers, both amateur and professional, marvel at the incredibly beautiful sound and range of tone of this vintage instrument which is housed in the church balcony behind the 18th century Tannenberg organ screen. Only 30 minutes in length, the free “Organic Reflections” concerts begin at 8 PM each First Friday for the convenience of those who wish to spend the early evening visiting downtown galleries before the concert. Doors open at 7:30 pm. All are welcome to experience the beauty of the majestic music played on the mighty 1958 vintage analog Allen organ. Invite someone to join you to hear 30 minutes of classical organ music that will refresh your soul and inspire your spirit.

Terre Hill Days

Come celebrate the best of summer at Terre Hill Days – Thursday, July 18 through Sunday, July 20. Free live entertainment each day along with great food, games and carnival rides creates a family friendly atmosphere for fun by all ages! Special events daily- a schedule can be found at our website. Be sure to join us on Thursday night for local bands night, along with a special ride-all-night wristband. Check our annual Arts & Crafts Fair Saturday from 9 am-4 pm. Other special events on Saturday include an airplane candy scramble, children’s entertainment, outhouse races and more!  The festival comes to a close on Saturday with fireworks at 10 pm.  The second installment of  ‘Songs in the Chapel’ is taking place July 12th, and features two of our area’s finest practitioners of roots music, folk, country and bluegrass.

Vinegar Creek Constituency imaginative, emotive original folk inspired  songs delivered with intensity. Full of shouting, floorboard- stomping soul, their live performances are uplifting, high-energy events with fans dancing in the aisles and clapping, stomping, and singing along.

With a repertoire ranging from the whimsical to the classical, Christine Fry helps to keep the musical traditions of yesteryear alive with her beautiful renditions of old-time country, bluegrass and rural music of all stripes.

This is sure to be an excellent night of music and fellowship; please join us! The performance will start at 7pm. There will be a brief intermission at 7:30, where light snacks/ beverages will be served; the music recommences at 8pm, and will end at 9pm. There is no charge to enter, but all free will donations will be accepted.

On First Friday, July 5,  “Organic Reflections”, a free 30 minute concert, will feature guest organist Rick Weinhold playing the vintage 1958 analog Allen organ at First Reformed Church, 40 E Orange Street in downtown Lancaster.  The concert begins at 8 PM and will feature a program of patriotic American music, including Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man”, Dvorak’s “Largo from the New World Symphony” and Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings.”  The First Friday “Organic Reflections” series is a gift to the Lancaster community from First Reformed Church, a center city congregation of the United Church of Christ. 4th Annual DJ & Producers Youth Summit will Debut a Freestyle Rap Competition

Thursday, June 27th at 6:00 p.m., C.F.P.T. Ministry Promotions in partnership with the Bethesda Mission Community Center presents the 4th Annual DJ & Producers Youth Summit.  The Summit will be held at the Bethesda Mission Community Center, 4318 Herr Street in Harrisburg. This event is free to attend but registration is required. Free tickets are available on Eventbrite. New to this year’s Summit is the Free-Style Competition for students’ grades 6 through 12 with a $100 cash prize.

This is a great opportunity to introduce youth some of Central PA’s top music producers and DJs to learn of alternative careers in music including production, performance, management and live Djing. The summit host is Selara “Underrated” Mann, III along with the following Presenters and performers: DJ Godfather of Godfather DJ Productions and DJ/MC Kevin who is also a social event specialist of Klock Entertainment.
