It is time once again for the TOP 500 COUNTDOWN!!!

WJTL is celebrating 30 years of ministry this year. One of our most popular on-air events during our history has been TheTop 500 Countdown as voted by our listeners.

What are your 5 favorite Christian Songs of ALL TIME? Check the WJTL Playlist, google, research and then click here to log your vote.  Put them in order from 1 to 5 because your top song gets more points than your fifth.

Voting begins TODAY (Monday, October 20th) and will end at midnight on Sunday, November 9, 2014. Each Friday in between (October 24, 31 and November 7) we will draw winners from those who have voted. By voting you will also be eligible for prizes given away during the On Air countdown of the Top 500.

Then, be sure to tune in the afternoon of Tuesday, November 18th thru Thursday night November 20 as we countdown the Top 500 from 500 to 1 as voted by the WJTL Family of Listeners.

Check out the top songs from past Top 500 Countdowns – click here.

Thank You and Happy Voting,

The Staff of WJTL

P.S. EVERYONE in your family should vote. Invite your friends. Spread the word!

Rain Rain Rain: Day Two

June 27th, 2013 2 comments

Day two brought rain and a river that ran through our tent.  Though it sounds dreary, the day as a whole was equally as good as day one.  My six frisbees were gone within a hour of people guessing the #1 condiment in the US.  Some said ketchup, others said mayo, but the correct answer was mustard.  Did you get it right?  Before the rain came, the people came in waves to be considered for the two hot air balloon tickets; our tent was packed.  But only one person could be the winner and that person was Gabrielle Capper of Altoona, Pa.  Congrats!

In this world there are universal things everybody loves: contemporary Christian music, Kristi Leigh, and free Chick-fil-A.  Tomorrow I will be giving away free Chick-fil-A for a year.  Yes, you read that right.  If you win tomorrow, you will be eating one Chick-fil-A sandwich, every week, until Creation 2014!  Besides free Chick-fil-A, I have t-shirts, cinch bags, and coffee mugs to give away.  But if you’ve learned anything from todays Frisbee giveaway, you’d know I love fun facts.  So here we go: The average hot dog is consumed in how many bites?  Guess correctly and you’ll be walking away with a t-shirt, coffee mug, or cinch bag.  Good luck!

WJTL’s Big Announcement

May 6th, 2013 4 comments

Dear WJTL Listener,

After a long and cold winter spring is finally here.  Spring is my favorite time of year as signs of new life are everywhere.  It is hard to miss the beauty of God’s creation around us.  I am reminded of God’s promise: “Behold, I make all things new!” (Revelations 21:5).

Things are also starting to blossom at the home of WJTL.  Phase One of the Junction Center Project has now been completed debt free and the studios are working great.  God has truly blessed!  This added space has enabled us to broadcast concerts in front of a live studio audience and to host many other special events.   We love meeting listeners!  The indoor capacity of only 50 people is clearly not enough to meet the demand.

Phase Two expands this vision with the construction of a large parking lot, restrooms and sewer system, landscaping with 65 new trees and a tent!  This high tech Saddleback tent has a completely open interior with no poles to hinder sight lines.  Featuring a great sound and lighting system the Junction Center Tent will be up from mid-May until mid-October starting in 2014.  If construction goes well the tent may actually open later this year.  The capacity will be 600 under roof plus additional open air seating outside.

Plans are for a WJTL summer concert series as well as a number of Kid’s Cookie Break and other events.  The tent will be able to accommodate a wide range of activities including concerts, seminars, banquets, comedy and theater.  “Christ. Community. Music.” is the current slogan for WJTL which also serves as the vision for The Junction Center.  We will also make this tent available to other select organizations.

WJTL is also excited to announce a long term agreement with the Hempfield Soccer Club to use our excess land for practice fields.  This relationship will bring thousands of young soccer players and their families to the Junction Center over the next ten years.

Long term plans are to construct a permanent community fine arts building on The Junction Center site.  This will allow for twelve months of usage rather than the six months provided by a tent.  As a matter of good stewardship though we will want to pay off the costs incurred for Phase Two first before starting anything new.  Currently Phase Two costs are estimated at $960,000 and it is our prayer that this debt can be retired within three years.  This will require a high level of participation from WJTL supporters as compared to the original purchase of the property where two major donors made it possible to purchase the foreclosed property at 28 cents on the dollar.  Your generous gift today will be a real boost to this effort.  Please join us in believing God for his provision and blessing on this ministry.

In Christ,
Tim Landis

Passion “Let The Future Begin” Contest

March 23rd, 2013 No comments

Recorded live in Atlanta at the annual conference, Passion‘s latest album “Let The Future Begin” is available now and features new songs by worship leaders Chris Tomlin, Kristian Stanfill, Crowder, Matt Redman and Christy Nockels.

The past couple of years, the Passion Conference has focused on the issue of modern day slavery.  In January 2013, Passion introduced the End It Movement.  This movement is designed to bring awareness and educate people on this issue and shine a light on injustice.  The simple red “X”–via stickers, hats, tshirts, pens, posters, twitter and extensive press–is finding its way across the country and sending curious people to www.EndItMovement.com where they’re learning what trafficking is and how they can be a part of the fight.  The opening page at the site displays this video:

Listen to WJTL all week for your chance to win a Passion Prize Pack including their new “Let The Future Begin CD” plus an End It Movement tote packed with End It Movement gear: Tshirt, cap, Sharpie, buttons,  stickers and more!  (Keep our number handy: 717-392-FM90)
