Faith Building Verse-Hebrews 11:3

June 29th, 2022 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – Today’s Faith-Building Verse is Hebrews 11:3.

“By faith, we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”

God’s power is able to speak something into existence. That is what we find at creation in the book of Genesis.  God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good.

God also created life among animals of many kinds and the life of human beings. The population of the world is reaching 8 billion people, and each person on this planet matters to God, including you. This says something about our value to God and His value to us.

Psalm 95:6 says, “Come let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker, for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.”

This Faith-Building verse inspires us to worship God as our Creator in the Year of Relationship.

Daily Challenge-Enjoy God’s Creation

October 18th, 2021 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – In the Year of Endurance, today’s Daily Challenge motivates us to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.

As the leaves change colors on the trees, we will soon see the bright colors of fall burst forth in God’s creation.

A walk in the woods is one way to enjoy God’s creation. A view of the sunrise or sunset is another way to enjoy the beauty of what He has made.

David wrote in Psalm 8:3, “When I consider the heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”

He reasoned that the creation all around us points to a loving God, who has made all this for our enjoyment and for His glory. David was moved to worship by what he observed and declared, “How majestic is your name in all the earth!” That can be our experience too.

Take the Daily Challenge to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation on the journey of faith.

Focus On God-Miracle Worker

January 27th, 2017 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – In the Year of Trust, today’s Focus on God examines His power as a miracle worker.

According to Psalm 77:14, God is a miracle-worker. “You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.”

The Christian faith is built on miracles, such as the Creation of the world, the virgin birth of Jesus, the miracle of His love demonstrated at the cross, and the raising of Jesus from the dead three days later.

There is another miracle worth noting-the miracle of God’s love to draw someone to faith in Jesus and to change a heart. Second Corinthians 5:17 says, “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!”

God’s power as a miracle worker is a reason to trust in God for today and forever.

Reason To Believe-People All Over The World

September 8th, 2016 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – In the Year of Exploration, today’s Reason to Believe is people all over the world.

Today, there are over 7.1 billion people in the world, and God is the creator of each person who lives on the face of the earth at this time.

Psalm 145, verse 9 tells us that “ the LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.”

The LORD knew about each one of us before we were born, He knew what we needed, and He provided a way for us to live forever with Him when He sent Jesus to the world.

The writer of Psalm 95 acknowledged God as Creator and responded with worship. Verse 6 says, “Come let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God.” Our breathing proves that we exist, but our worship reflects that we thrive for the glory of God.

The people of the world have been made in the image of God, and were made to bring glory to God. The existence of people on the earth is a reason to believe in God’s good news.

Reason To Believe-Human Dignity

July 1st, 2016 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – In the Year of Exploration, today’s Reason to Believe is the dignity of human beings in the eyes of God.

David marveled at God’s thoughtfulness of the people He created, even though we occupy such a small space in the grand scheme of His universe.

In Psalm 8, he wrote, “When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands.”

This knowledge led David to a place of worship. He ended Psalm 8 with the same phrase that he began it. “Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”

The dignified place that God gives us on the earth is an occasion to celebrate the majesty of His name and is a reason to believe in God’s good news.

Reason To Believe-Creation

January 6th, 2016 No comments

JOHN SHIRK – This is the Year of Exploration at WJTL. We will explore various questions about the Christian faith and examine daily reasons to believe in the Gospel.

Today’s Reason to Believe is Creation.

What we see around us in nature day after day directs our attention to the Master Architect behind it all. God said “Let there be light, and there was light.”

Hebrews 11:3 says, “By faith, we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”

Romans 1:20 says, “Since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”

The Bible reveals the power of God to make something out of nothing. The same God who spoke this world into existence has made you and me, and He is worthy of our praise.

Creation is a reason to believe in God’s good news.
