Word from God’s Word-Guard

JOHN SHIRK – Today’s Word from God’s Word is Guard.

One definition of this word is to defend ourselves or others from harm during a serious attack.

We are in a spiritual battle that requires the armor of God. One of those pieces of armor is the shield of faith. Another is the breastplate of righteousness. These are effective qualities to have in place to guard us from the attacks of the enemy.

Proverbs 4:23 says: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” The heart is the seat of our desires. God gives us these words of wisdom to keep our ambitions from being corrupted.

“Keep your mouth free from perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.”
