Word from God’s Word-Intercession

JOHN SHIRK – Today’s Word from God’s Word is Intercession.

To intercede is to pray on behalf of someone else. They have a need, and we bring that need to God at His throne of grace.

First Timothy 2:1 urges us to make petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving for all people-for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Those who follow Christ live with the assurance that Jesus Himself is at the right hand of God interceding for us. This is an expression of His love for us. In a similar way, praying for someone in their time of need is a loving way to support them. As we intercede for them, God might move us to further action to reach out to them in tangible ways.
