There are 2 themes in today’s program. First, for all you early risers: the first 2 hours are themed with songs for you! Then, we’ll wrap up with a 4-song “Knees” mini-theme. If you have any song questions, theme suggestions or worship leader recommendations, get in touch. I’d be happy to hear from you.

JOHN SHIRK – We find this word of instruction in Hebrews 13:16: “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
God’s design for our good deeds is for the righteousness of Christ to be exalted. The follower of Christ is motivated to good deeds because the love of Christ is active within us.
After the recent tornado outbreak in Oklahoma, various Christian relief groups moved in to help those devastated by the tornadoes. News broadcasts were drawing attention to the initiative of faith-based groups to come to the aid of those who were suffering.
The compassion of Christ is at the heart of many of these efforts. Doing good and sharing with others will involve sacrifices of personal time. It will require the heart of a servant. There might be a cost involved with making financial donations or buying items that other people need. The risk is worth the potential outcome. Jesus said, “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” When we give sacrificially for Christ, God is pleased, practical needs are met, and the door is open for others to give glory to God as a result of our witness.
The “results of sacrificial giving” is a lesson of faith worth remembering.

Intern Sandra Out and About: The Underground Skatepark
Admin : June 6, 2013 10:55 am : Intern SandraThis morning I went to the Underground Skatepark in Dillsburg, PA! I talked with Dan, Brittany, and Derek about their mission and upcoming summer events. Underground is housed in the basement of Celebration Community Church, and the area is completely filled with ramps and other structures made in-house by volunteers. The skaters with Underground are not only passionate about skating, but also creating relationships with the people that come to their events, and sharing the Gospel with them. At each event and skate night somebody will come up and share the Gospel with the crowd, and the crew has tons of amazing stories and testimonials to share.
These guys have found a way to share God’s love through their passion for skating, and their enthusiasm definitely shows.Underground keeps busy; they’ll be at Creation, both Northeast and Northwest, in addition to holding many skate events throughout the summer, including bringing pro skater Brian Sumner to the Underground this July! For more information on their weekly events, what they’re up to this summer, and their ongoing ministry, you can visit undergroundskatepark.org or check out their Facebook page at facebook.com/theundergroundskatepark.
Be sure to tune in Thursday mornings from 8-9 to see where else I’m going to be!

Intern Sandra Out and About: Soccer Shots!
Admin : May 30, 2013 10:38 am : Intern Sandra, UncategorizedThis summer on Thursday mornings during the 8-9 hour, I’ll be hopping in the cookie car and heading into the community to get the scoop on upcoming events! Be sure to tune in for live interviews, and keep an eye out for more cookie car fun throughout the summer!
This morning I visited the Soccer Shots office in Lancaster and chatted with Zak and Justin about their upcoming Spring Celebration Bash this Saturday, June 1st! They were both very excited about this Saturday’s event, which will feature free soccer clinics for kids ages 2-8, music, games, food, fun, and the Soccer Shots mascot! Justin also told me about the philanthropic arm of Soccer Shots, Global Goals. Global Goals is a nonprofit organization that provides opportunity for disadvantaged youth in the US and around the world to enjoy the game of soccer, something both Zak and Justin seemed very passionate about. You can learn more about Global Goals at soccershots.org/global-goals.

Christ in Action: UPDATE: After much deliberation and discussion CIA has decided to cancel the trip from this area scheduled to go to Oklahoma. There has been such an increidble response from the community and around the country to accomplish immediate needs. Also, “Homes were completely demolished so we are not going in and helping the homeowner clear things out of their home and prepare for remodeling. In this case, they simply saved what they could in memories and the rest is being completely bulldozed and taken away. People are staying with relatives and friends and are not really in the area at this time.”
Keep up to date with Christ in Action’s Facebook page.
