Back To School Time is right around the corner!  Over the next few weeks, families all over the listening area will be heading out on Back To School shopping trips.  We encourage you to nominate a family that you know who could use some help with those expenses this year.  It’s WJTL’s “Backpack To School” contest, underwritten by 1-800-GOT-JUNK!  They offer full-service junk removal for your home or business.

We’ll choose winners randomly and announce them Fridays on the Get Up & Go Show throughout the month of August.  (Winners will be contacted before their name is mentioned on the radio.)  Each winner will receive a backpack with some school supplies and a $200 Visa giftcard to help with Back To School expenses.

I nominate my sons family for the backpack giveaway. He has always been a hard worker and when her was laid off 2 years ago it was quite a blow. He and his family barely survived the nine months on unemployment and were thankful when he got a job 1 1/2 hours away. He worked for 9 months making alot less than before. (In fact, it about the same as being on unemployment.) Still they pushed trough. Then he was laid off again and promptly got hired at another job. Unfortunately, he only had that job for 2 months and was let go without any unemployment benefits. They have now been without any income for 2 1/2 months and he is still looking for a job. They have used up all our savings, all our retirement and gone deeply into debt. Still, they are trusting God for their daily survival and hope that soon he sill be working again.

I am a single father of 3 teenage children who are in school. I get no support from their mother so it extremely tough. Our family has gone through a lot the past 3 years my youngest Alexis was diagnosed with cancer, the family break up because of a divorce and finically devastated now in the process of bankruptcy. In the past couple months I am seeing God’s hand in all this it has brought me closer to Him and our family has made it through one struggle after another. God has gotten us through a lot. We don’t have extra but we have love, laughter and each other. Thank you.

I would like to nominate my mom. She works really hard to provide for me. She was out of work for over a year. Then she had a job for 4months then they decide to lay her off. We don’t receive any support. MY dad was very abusive towards my mom both mental and verbally abusive. She isn’t receiving any unemployment either. I dont know when and how were going to back to school shopping. I really need new shoes. All my shoes have holes in them. I don’t want to say anything because she will get depressed and start to cry. I’ll be in eleventh grade this year. At Hempfield High School.
Our address is 5999 Sundra Circle
    East Petersburg PA 17520 569-9830

    Thank You

Their ages are 14, 10, and 7 years of age. the other 2 children are 3 years and the youngest is 1 year old. She has 9 brain aneurysms and has seizures all the time. She could really use the help with the school expenses for the children. With her medical condition she is not able to drive, so it is tough trying to get around to purchase supplies and other needs. I wish her the best in this contest, Thank you.
