Prayer Focus-Earnest Prayers of Elijah

JOHN SHIRK – In the Year of Focus, we take a look at the earnest prayers of Elijah.

In James 5:17, Elijah is described as a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again, he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

Everyone who is considered righteous lives by faith. Elijah had faith in God. He believed that with God all things are possible. He was also prompted by God’s Word to pray for what was humanly impossible.

James 5:16 says that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

The earnest prayers of Elijah are worth examining for a faith-focused life.
